Job Description

Overview of Role:

• With solid experience in the delivery of business intelligence solutions, you will design and implement the data loading (ETL) and publishing processes within the DW/BI environment, multi-dimensional models, including the construction of Dimensions and Facts (with hierarchies, attributes, and measures) and reporting applications including (but not limited to) BI dashboards, ad-hoc analysis and reporting and static reports.

• Tanslating project requirements into functional and technical specifications for BI reports and applications; you will ensure focus on information/data quality by developing enterprise data standards such as a common business vocabulary, naming conventions, data standards, transformation rules and related specifications.

• You will provide expertise to the user community to improve their knowledge and understanding of BI as well as contributing to and supporting the organisation’s Business Intelligence architecture and strategy definition. You will also negotiate and agree scope and timescales with users to achieve best possible match between operational needs and BI system suitability and capability.

 

Main Responsibilities:

• Development role in ORACLE business intelligence . This role will develop data warehouse and business intelligence solutions using Oracle tools and underlying technologies for our extensive client base in the financial services space

• Promote the use of Business Intelligence (BI) tools and concepts across the organisation

• Work with other divisions to understand business process challenges and identify solution opportunities within Business Intelligence area.

• Translate project requirements into functional and non-functional specifications for BI reports and applications.

• Design and implement multi-dimensional models, including the construction of Data View, Dimensions, and Cubes while adhering to enforced development methodologies.

• Design and implement reporting applications including (but not limited to) BI dashboards, reporting cubes and static reports.

 

Requirements

Experience:

• With a Bachelors degree or local equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline, you should have prior relevant experience in the delivery of business intelligence solutions as well as knowledge and experience in the design, construction and management of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions. Oracle Certification, experience in the design and implementation of ETL processes using Oracle ODI and Informatica would all be an advantage.

• You should have a strong foundation and understanding of Dimensional Modeling and OLAP principles and experience in Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) would also be a distinct advantage.

• Experienced in developing Business Intelligence solutions (reports, dashboards, scorecards), you will be familiar with best practice methodologies such as Inmon and Kimball. You should have advanced knowledge and skills in SQL and skills in DBA, along with an overall understanding of systems architecture & technology development lifecycle. You will also have good knowledge of Enterprise Data Model and Master Data management concepts.

• You must possess excellent problem solving, negotiation, presentation and communication skills. You will also have the ability to work with minimal supervision combined with very good organizational skills

 

Essential Skills

• Must have strong skills in Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008 including: SQL Server Integrated Services (SSIS) / SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) / SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

• Performance Point Server 2007

• Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007

• 3 years + experience desirable

• Experienced in developing Business Intelligence solutions (reports, dashboards, scorecards) using Microsoft SSRS, SSAS, and MDX in a data warehousing environment.

• Experience in the design and implementation of ETL processes

• Experience developing and running MDX querie

• Ability to perform detailed data analysis (i.e. determine the structure, content, and quality of the data through examination of source systems and data samples).

• Advanced knowledge of and OLAP/MOLAP technologies and dimensional modelling, including applicability to various reporting problems.

 

Ideal Skills

• Knowledge of any of the following would be advantageous:

• Tools including ProClarity

• MS Visual Studio .NET, C#

• Sharepoint 2007;

• Data Warehousing methodologies especially Kimball

• BizTalk Server 2006

• Previous experience in financial services data, analysis and reporting

• Knowledgeable in the design, construction and management of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions

• Knowledge of problem analysis, structured analysis, and design and programming techniques.

• Good grounding in development best practice skills, including: requirements definition; analysis; design; testing; implementation; documentation and support
