EMEA Accounting Manager

Location: Warszawa

The EMEA Accounting Manager role reports directly to the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) controller and is primarily responsible for all aspects of the accounting process within the Region. That includes: accounts receivable and accounts payable, fixed asset depreciation, cash application and deferred revenue activities. This position will support all of EMEA regarding these sub-processes. In addition, this role will be responsible for the supervision of closing activities in accordance with a Sarbanes Oxley control environment and the preparation of key controls, including the completion of revenue recognition templates, non-routine contract assessments, reconciliations of accounts, restructuring activities and pre-quarter questionnaires.

The position will be based in Warsaw, Poland, in the offices of EMEA Business Services.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise the accounting for the EMEA entities in all matters of accounting and assisting in the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements that are used in the corporate consolidation
  • Provide initial research as it pertains to critical accounting matters in the EMEA region
  • Liaise with the Corporate Controller office on the status of closing activities, key controls and significant accounting matters
  • Continuously improve the efficiency of the accounting process by challenging the established practices and working with innovation to develop alternative process and procedures as well as related documentation
  • Expand the role as appropriate to include similar tasks from the Asia Pacific region
  • Closely work with the Accounting Operations Manager within EMEA Business Services

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with appropriate certification for the region, advanced degree preferred
  • Proficiency in English is a must, knowledge of other languages will be an advantage
  • Minimum of 10 years accounting / auditing experience; preferably with a combination of public accounting and large-multinational experiences
  • Must have a mastery of accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (U.S. GAAP) and knowledge of the Sarbanes Oxley control environment requirements
  • Must have knowledge of International Financial Standards and local EMEA standards and be able to apply this knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and SAP required; proficiency with Longview (Khalix) preferred
  • Reliable and resourceful professional ready to multi-task with various issues
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize issues under pressure with time constraints
