Your next role
The role is responsible for recommending, implementing and supporting current and new SQL Server DB technologies. In this role you will:
- Perform advanced database administration activities including but not limited to: DB Performance Tuning, T-SQL tuning, Backup and recovery and DB disaster recovery solutions.
- Analyze existing systems and make recommendations on which technology best suits the business requirement for high availability, Disaster Recovery or high performance.
- Diagnose and resolve problems around database performance, capacity, replication, T-SQL, SQL AlwaysON, etc.
- Design and implement highly available production systems using the following technologies: Database Mirroring, Windows clustering and SQL AlwaysON, availability groups.
- Proactively monitor databases for errors and respond quickly and effectively to troubleshoot and resolve DB on-going issues
- Create/update database documentation about standard procedures, DB technology features, or production issue troubleshooting.
- Work independently to design or participate in functional/performance tests.
- Review scripts submitted by the Development team for performance and standard adherence.
- Work with development teams to deploy code in production when needed.
- Stay current with changes in the technical area of expertise.
What you’ll need to succeed
10+ years of experience in DB Admin/Engineer/Architect roles, including:
- Solid experience in SQL Server database administration
- Experience in AlwaysON implementation.
- 4+ years of experience in performance tuning.
- 3+ years of experience in troubleshooting issues.
- Hands on experience in backup & restore process.
- Hands on experience in Powershell programming interacting database servers.
- Knowledge on postgre, mysql and mongoDB in the following areas:
- Database setup in Linux environment
- Backup/restore
- Monitoring
- Performance tuning
- Enabling LDAP/Kerbros for database security
- HA setup (Master-Slave)
- Setup Alerting
- Good communication skills, able to communicate to IT and business
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, other technical field, or equivalent work experience
- Fluent English for everyday communication
