Regional Head of Finance CEE

Purpose:

To lead the firm's CEE Finance function and manage a high performing Warsaw team, with equal focus on technical excellence, professional and timely delivery and being able to adapt to the evolving needs of the business and the environment. The role covers the overall profit and loss account, technical compliance and responsibility for the Warsaw office, as well as acting as Head of Finance for the region to support the Regional Managing Partner. The other offices in the region have excellent finance functions, which are run by Senior Finance professionals. The role provides high quality, front-line finance support to key groups of stakeholders. Region: Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

Your goal is to also be a business partner for all Partners in the CEE Region, be part of the decision-making process depending on the business situation, profitability analysis and definition of growth.

The ideal candidate has approx. ten or more years of professional experience in an international environment, is able to manage accounting/statutory matters and focus on business aspects. Sector experience with consulting/BIG 4 or other related business services is desirable. Strong management skills required.

For our Client, a well-known company, operating globally in business services / consulting - a leader in their sector, because of growth we are currently looking for someone to fill the role of Head of Finance for the CEE Region.

Description

  • Being the key financial business partner to the office's Managing Partner and Partners in all aspects of financial management. Advising other support functions as necessary
  • Preparing and delivering in-depth financial analysis and insightful narrative on the financial elements of the business. Providing high-level financial and commercial input toward strategic decisions of the office.
  • Leader of the Warsaw Finance team. Direct management responsibility for the function including developing staff and ensuring excellent service and compliance levels are met
  • Monitoring other CEE offices (light touch) and engaging the leaders of those local office finance functions as part of the regional plan to deliver finance services to the partnership.
  • Accountability for all local statutory compliance requirements (taxes, financial reporting etc) and for complete and accurate accounting records for local and UK (IFRS accounts) purposes, group accounting policies and procedures. Managing the annual financial audit and year end closing process, acting as the key point of contact for the external audit and group teams
  • Responsible for financial reporting and budgeting, as well as providing finance support for the strategic development of all businesses
  • Maximising client/matter profitability from pitching/pricing to facilitating the review and analysis of client/matter profitably
  • Improving working capital management performance and embedding best practice
  • Cash management including cash forecasts
  • Developing and implementing ideas / initiatives reflecting best practice for a global firm. Ensuring that firm-wide initiatives are adopted / implemented effectively and appropriately
  • Maintaining close relationships with practice group heads on finance-related issues
  • Supervising and moderating the budget and business planning process for the region, ensuring completeness, accuracy and compliance with business guidance
  • Monitoring performance and cost control in the business
  • Delivering courses to fee earners to enhance financial awareness and business skills.
  • Being an active member of the Global Finance Community worldwide

Profile

  • KIBR, ACCA or CIMA with significant post-qualification experience
  • Knowledge and ability to control and sign financial statements and tax declarations
  • Local technical knowledge is a necessity
  • Results driven; having a proactive, goal orientated approach to decision making
  • Ability to influence at the highest level as a credible, fast-thinking, collaborative and proactive individual
  • Outstanding interpersonal and management skills, including, coaching, development and mentoring
  • Fluency in English is a must
  • Must demonstrate a hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally, when explaining complex issues both to financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Good accounting, tax and treasury technical skills
  • Comfortable in a world of ambiguous decision-making and consultation, with ability to influence and confidence to advise being critical success factors
  • Familiarity with treasury, financing, pensions and insurance
