Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide the technical support within the agreed Service Levels
  • Perform Database software installation, upgrades and apply relevant patches
  • Perform Database migrations – intra platform or inter platforms
  • Build and Deploy/Implement Solutions. Perform Capacity Planning and DR Planning.
  • Troubleshooting and fixing incidents
  • Creating / altering / dropping tablespaces
  • Clone one environment from another
  • Database backup / restore
  • Data Archival activities
  • Server monitoring including health checks at server level and database level

And what is more:

  • Assist the development community with the resolution of miscellaneous queries and problems
  • Database space management
  • Implementing releases / service requests
  • Creating generic application accounts/ granting permissions
  • Locking / unlocking generic application accounts
  • Keeping the systems up and running clean
  • Timely escalation of issues to Team Lead or appropriate channel
  • Performance and Tuning of database
  • Meet the delivery standards as per the agreement that includes quality of deliverables, documentation
  • Status communication and timely reporting
  • Interact with application teams and other infrastructure teams
  • Maintain support records such as change records, trends, capacity utilization
  • Participate in crisis calls and assist DBA’s to handle calls.
  • Demonstrate ownership, commitment, and sense of urgency to production incidents
  • Upgrade technical knowledge consistently.
  • Provide Domain Knowledge to production support Team
  • Customer Service and Problem Resolution
  • Participate in crisis calls as applicable
  • Participate in identifying problem situations and resolve to give maximum customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem management skills
  • Solve problems laterally with in-time information to line manager
  • Operations, Process Improvements and audit controls
  • Adhere to database standards, policies, and procedures

The major challenges of this role include:

  • Number of platforms and competing demands for time.
  • Global scope and time zone coverage
  • Current design quality and existing technical debt.
  • New team in Poland that will need to embed and reach high productivity levels quickly.

Requirements:

  • Excellent understanding of database/server/storage configuration, monitoring and diagnostics
  • Experience in major version upgrades and migrations
  • Deep understanding of storage array technology
  • Good understanding of database replication technologies
  • Good understanding of scheduling tools such as Control-M or Autosys
  • Some exposure to Delphix virtualisation would be an advantage
  • Some exposure to Delphix virtualisation would be an advantage
  • Strong communication skills
  • Commitment to project delivery.
  • Proactive ownership across projects and production environment
