Your new role
Global Operational and Resilience Risk (ORR) is a sub function of Group Risk. Its purpose is to make sure that company understands, and is in control of its non-financial risk position. In addition, the function provides resilience risk stewardship to global businesses, functions and entities we operate in.
The role holder is responsible for ensuring that European network countries establish and adhere to standards for the management of operational risk as set out in the Group’s framework for Operational Risk Management, and resilience risks are managed within appetite. The role holder will have regional responsibility to provide operational and resilience risk & change oversight for the ORR Europe network countries (including Germany, Switzerland and UK).

Your new role

The role holder is responsible for ensuring that European network countries establish and adhere to standards for the management of operational risk as set out in the Group’s framework for Operational Risk Management, and resilience risks are managed within appetite. The role holder will have regional responsibility to provide operational and resilience risk & change oversight for the ORR Europe network countries (including Germany, Switzerland and UK).
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure the integrity and timely completeness of risk and control identification, assessment and information within the Group’s Risk and Control system of record (Helios) as well as directing documented remediation plans for residual risks
- Conduct thematic reviews across Europe to ensure that risk and control environment is commensurate with the scale and nature of operations
- Directs and supports the European network countries on their operational and resilience risk management and acts as a key contact and escalation for senior stakeholder engagement throughout, making sure delivery is consistent and of high quality
- Develops, deploys and embeds the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and provides advice, guidance and challenge in relation to ORR oversight and internal control effectiveness within Europe
- Provides 2LOD oversight of top and emerging risks, ensuring the European network countries can mitigate these timely and cost effectively
- Assesses compliance with Group policies and risk appetite
- Attends control meetings and non-financial risk governance forums, providing both Operational Risk oversight and robust and timely Risk Steward challenge of the First Line of Defence (1LOD) view of the resilience risk profile as required
- Responsible for developing and promoting an increasingly insightful process based view of operational and resilience risks
- Supports the implementation and embedding of the ORR functional strategy
- Applies risk stewardship review and challenge over Resilience Risk RCAs and control environment
- Works closely with Strategic Change Oversight to risk assess and provide regional level Change Oversight for relevant High Priority Programmes (“HPPs”) and Significant Change Programmes (“SCPs”) and provide a macro change opinion to regional governance
What you'll need to succeed
Requirements:
- Strong level of risk management knowledge and relevant experience
- Experience of either leading or overseeing the delivery of large scale complex change programmes
- Strong level of business management knowledge and experience of working in a senior role
- Demonstrable experience in both the commercial and technical aspects of digital services is advantageous
- Comprehensive knowledge of the external environment (risk, regulatory, geopolitical, competitor etc)
- A BA or BS University Degree, advanced degrees preferable, (e.g. MBA, MSc, PhD) in relevant discipline
- Professional qualifications may be advantageous
