STB Architect

The purpose of the position is to support Set-Top Box (STB) roadmaps, requirements, specifications and development. Activities will include both hardware and software aspects of the STB.

Main responsibilities:

• Liaising with vendors to understand technology roadmaps and incorporating these roadmaps into company's STB roadmaps
• Liasing with POMG to capture their functional requirements and incorporating these requirements into the company's roadmap
• liaisng to CNO to understand their operational requirements and incorporating these requirements into company's roadmap
• defining the architecture for company's STB hardware and software
• managing from a technical point of view, RFP processes for new STB hardware and software
• reviewing and approving technical Specifications from vendors
• reviewing and approiving with CPE Engineers, test plans from vendors
• extensive cooperation with external technology suppliers during development of STB hardware and software (STB vendors, middleware, CA vendors, application vendors)
• undertake evolution of new technologies from R&D through Integration and testing to Production in conjuction with other CTO departments, Operations divisions and vendors
• communicating industry developments to peers and superiors

•  Msc Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
• Three or more years direct exposure to STB hardware, RF, MGEG, H264, DVB, Conditional Access, DRM, Docsis, middleware and applications
• three or more years experience in software development processes
• exposure to and understanding of related areas such as broadcast systems, Electronic Program Guides, NVOD, VOD and RTSP
• Exposure to and understanding of Internet, TCP/IP, UDP, RTSP, IPTV
• exposure to and understanding of operating systems and real-time software
• must be willing and able to adapt rapidly to changing priorities and technologies
• must have good interpersonal skills, to maintain and develop effective working relationships with other peers
• must have good problem solving skills and attention for detail
• must be able to work under pressure and be prepared to work outside normal working hours when necessary
• must be proactive, with desire to continously improve system solutions, documentation and process& procedures
• excellent English
