Legal Counsel
We are looking for an experienced Candidate who wants to join a small SSC from mining industry. This is a Regional role, which supports legal matters.
Client Details
Our Client is an international producer of steel, concrete products and chemicals used widely in the mining, construction and energy sectors. They also provide specialised equipment.
Description
- Legal support for the Region, which is provided independently, with solution-focused, risk based and cost-effective manner.
- Manages provision of legal services by internal and external legal counsel.
- Assists in development of strategy for litigation and dispute resolution processes.
- Oversees the negotiation as well as finalisation of legal documentation in the Region.
- Supports deployment of the Company's contracts management policies and procedures.
- Monitors key laws and legislation, which may affect the business; inform other departments of legal developments that affect their areas of responsibility; suggest preventive procedures to minimize exposure to legal risks and liabilities.
- Manages legal aspects of acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures and major customer contracts.
- Supports maintenance of compliance with appropriate corporate governance policies and standards in the Region (dealing with anti-bribery and corruption, competition law compliance, trade sanction compliance and anti-money laundering).
- Ensures that Company complies with the laws and regulations of the jurisdictions in the Region in which it does business and operates in conformity with group policies, standards and procedures.
- Develop and present trainings.
- Cooperate with colleagues in Legal Department and consult with external advisors.
Profile
- Law degree with 3-5 years of experience in an inhouse position or law-firm.
- Admitted to a Bar Association.
- Generalist with a focus on international commercial contracts under common law (ideally in the mining industry) and solid knowledge of general business law.
- Excellent interpersonal and management skills - interacting with different business units in different countries.
- Hands-on approach and willingness to grow.
