For our client food production company we are looking for:
Laboratory Manager - FoodMiejsce pracy: Lódź
Execute, Develop and Improve quality analysis plans related to food safety and quality. Drive change to achieve improved quality standards.
Drive improvement
- Drive 5S in the Lab environment
- Initiate and lead quality related improvement and problem solving teams using root cause problem solving tools such as 5 why and Ishikawa analysis.
- Participate in internal audits related to HACCP, food safety, sustainability and quality management system
- Follow up corrective actions and verify effectiveness of implemented measures.
- Contribute to cost and efficiency improvement activities, taking into account quality requirements
- Provide expert advice to other functions
Execute and Implement Quality Analysis Plans
- Develop, execute and review quality sampling plans (micro, analytical, sensory) to ensure compliance of production environment, process, raw materials and products in the most efficient way
- Ensure execution of quality analysis agreed with customers
- Participate lab proficiency testing and implement required corrective actions
- Implement, maintain and improve food safety systems and good laboratory practices and ensure certification against FSSC 22000 standard
- Review results and supplier documents to take a decision on release of raw materials
- Decide on release of production line where product integrity/quality risks occur
- Decide on disposition and provide recommendations regarding blocked products
- Track, trace and put on hold when and as required
- Ensure adherence to legal safety rules and identify and implement measures to improve safety and reduce risks in the labs and in the environment in general
Project Management
- Understand, review and provide feedback on the impact of projects on management systems (eg HACCP, FSSC 22000, PEM, Sustainability standards).
- Adapt and validate quality analysis plans and systems to address changed or new ingredients, products, processes, production environment
- Chair and participate at meetings effectively, direct others (also non hierarchical), coordinate with stakeholders and manage communication and interaction between all functions

Education
- Master in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or equivalent
- Mastering of English a requirement
Experience (type) and Knowledge
- 5+ years of experience in Lab Management, Quality Assurance and Food Safety in an international food, pharmaceutical or feed company
- Project Management
- Knowledge of Food Safety management, HACCP management, GMPs (Hygiene practices, Sanitation, Environmental Monitoring, Pest Control etc), GFSI certification schemes (BRC, FSSC 22000).
