Role Description

Laboratory Analyst FTIR & XRF Spectrometry
Metslawier

Your contribution:
Within the Quality team we are looking for a bachelor level laboratory assistant with experience in the field of FTIR and XRF spectrometry for the (bio)chemical profiling of potato varieties.

Your opportunity:
You will work in a project team that is dedicated to link chemical composition of potato tissues from selected varieties to the structure and texture of derived potato products upon processing applying state of the art spectroscopy principles. We are looking for somebody with analytical skills and dedication for large scale sample preparation to study (cell)structures and composition of potato tissues relevant for structure and texture of processed potato products by means of spectroscopic measurements. Knowledge of and experience with multivariate analysis of spectral data sets is a clear advantage for the position. It concerns a fulltime function for the period of 2 years.
 


Requirements

Your profile:

  • You have a relevant education in the field of analytical or food chemistryBachelor level.
  • You have proven skills and experience in the preparation of plant, preferably potato, tissue samples for the purpose of FTIR or XRF spectroscopy at high throughput.
  • You have proven skills in terms of interpretation of FTIR and XRF spectral datasets obtained from potato tissues according to multivariate principles and their association with structure and texture traits expressed in derived products.
  • You have affinity with the biochemistry, composition, architecture and structural aspects of plant tissues that relate to quality traits of processed (potato) products.
  • You are flexible (in view of variation of activities within the project) and you share your knowledge and skills with your team members. Moreover you attach high value to quality and effective reporting.
  • You are self-sufficient in terms of definition, planning, execution of experiments and delivery of targets on agreed deadlines.
  • You are driven to continuously develop yourself and willing to expand your knowledge and expertise and that of the team.


You have communicative and organisational skills and you are a team player.
