Junior Scientist - Downstream Process Development

They are a Biopharmaceutical company that specializes in the development of vaccines to cure infectious diseases worldwide.Role Description
You will be part of the Downstream Process Development (DSP) team who will be responsible for production and characterization of bacterial vaccines, consisting of protein- and glycoprotein antigens. Furthermore you will develop and operate a broad range of Biopharmaceutical DSP units and facilitate early-stage vaccine development and downstream processes for late-stage development programs.Responsibilities
- Preparing, performing and documentation of experiments- Conducting development studies to determine and identify (critical) process parameters for chromatographic purification and separation.
- Recognizing deviations in the process, performing root-cause analysis and problem-solving
- Using high-throughput platforms (like liquid handling platforms) to execute screening/development studies
- Responsible for process documentation, work instructions and batch records
- Data analysis, reporting and presenting to the DSP team and suggest improvement possibilities
- Laboratory Stock and Inventory Management
- Staying up to date with equipment status and / or maintenance
- Follow up on safety procedures and contribute to the maintenance of a clean laboratory environment using 5S principles
Requirements
- MSc degree in Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Bacteriology, (Bio)chemical Engineering or related area- More than 1 year of professional experience in a Biopharmaceutical environment is a big plus
- Experience in working with protein and/or glycoprotein purification (DSP) methods (chromatography, filtration, precipitation)
- Understanding of high-throughput platforms / liquid handling systems, downscale models and in-process analytical techniques
- Fluent in English (oral and written)
