For our client, global pharmaceutical company, we are looking for a Director of Engineering & Product (File, Print, e-Sign)

Your new role

As a Director of Engineering and Product, you will play a strategic role in the company. This role acts as a representative of the End User Services Leadership Team and holds overall accountability for the design, build, run of Document Management with business objectives. The role reports directly into the VP End User Services.

Over the past months, the role has increased in size, scope and responsibility. Document Management capability will have full end to end accountability for design, build & run of all technology stacks for Enterprise File & Share, Enterprise Print, e-Signatures & e-FAX within its domain and has Global coverage that will see its services consumed by 130K+ company's employees who require the ability to file, share, print, and sign documents.

The Director of Engineering and Product will lead a team of product owners, engineers, and work collaboratively with senior stakeholders to agree on priorities for their product sets, and deliver against those priorities.

Key responsibilities:

Designing, building, running the company Document Management Landscape:
  • Provides company with in-depth insight into current and emerging technologies that will benefit company both financially and operationally.
  • Responsibility for defining the Document Management technical & organizational transformation roadmap.
  • Defines company Document Management strategy to align with new business models, and provide optimal levels of adaptability to support future business change (Merger, Acquisition, Divestment).
  • Ensures technical currency of Document Management assets, whilst transforming to evergreen operating model.

Leading the Document Management Services function within the company:

  • Transform and sustains an effective Document Management DevOps organization through skills & operating model transformation.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to direct reports and matrix team (internally and externally, including third party). Provide strategic direction and oversight of the activities conducted by the team.
  • Lead by example on all HR activity, recruitment, recognition, development planning, feedback to ensure a transparent, high trust high challenge and respectful working environment.
  • Lead and clearly define working arrangements/contracts with partners and 3rd parties so that it is both financially and operationally advantageous for the company.
  • Manage the Document Management annual OPEX and CAPEX budget while always seeking optimization to enable reinvestment within company.
  • Stakeholder manages company's Document Management partners to ensure communication robustness on current and future technology capabilities within Mobility

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in leading technical teams.
  • Previous global function and experience in major Tech organization are preferred. Pharmaceutical or other regulated industry experiences is a plus.
  • Technical design and associated network, infrastructure and application design.
  • Leadership role in at least one transformational programme both organizational and technology.
  • Understands complex technology (e.g. Adobe (e-signature), netapp & netapp CVO (Fileshare)) environments and provides ‘Best Practice’ recommendations around Document Management solutions design, build, run.
  • Possesses strong technical skills in Document Management domain.
  • Flexible Thinking – looks for improvements in new and existing processes and questions the ‘status quo’.
  • Experience of working through contract negotiations with partners and 3rd parties.
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering features in a truly agile environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of building happy, engaged and high performing teams.
  • Developing People – creating ways to coach, mentor and provide constructive feedback to each other in a transparent and respectful manner as well as creating a sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Excellent negotiation, decision making and problem-solving skills. Strong influencing skill.
