Central purpose of the job:
Production support and administration of CMC’s global SQL Server database platform supporting multiple applications and over 200 SQL server instances.
Primary Responsibilities :
Work as part of a global SQL Server DBA team supporting database platforms for a multi-national company headquartered in the US. Support, implement, and assist in design and operations of enterprise database platforms and solutions. Duties include, but are not restricted to:
- Database Backup & Restore Management
- Reactive Space and Storage Management
- Database Security
- Database Management and Maintenance
- Monitoring and troubleshooting
- Performance Monitoring & Tuning
- Inventory Management
- Monitoring and maintaining databases, SQL logins, jobs, etc.
- Performing and configuring new installations of SQL Server, SSRS, SSAS, and SSIS
- Performing requested changes, updates and modifications to database structure and data
- Perform patching and upgrades on various versions and editions of SQL Server
- Providing performance-related analysis and recommendations on SQL Server instances
- Troubleshooting access issues, performance issues, and other related issues brought to the team by vendors, internal customers, etc.
- Support, assist, and help design new SQL Server operational automation initiatives.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of IT experience as a SQL Server DBA. Experience working as part of a distributed team supporting global IT operations is preferred.
- Experience implementing and supporting MS SQL Server multiple node clusters
- Experience in supporting virtual MS SQL instances running in VMware
- Experience in SQL Server installation, and set up of maintenance plans
- Experience in defining and supporting SQL backups using native SQL Server compression, or other third party tools
- Experience and general knowledge of Microsoft PowerShell is desired
- SCOM experience a plus.
- SQL Server Installation, Maintenance Plan setups, production support, SQL performance tuning, SQL Server Cluster management, and general SQL Server DBA administration.
- Quick learner and self-starter
- Able to adapt in a changing work environment
- Ability to work as a collaborative member of a global team
- Good English communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work after hours as part of an on-call rotation, to provide maintenance and administrative support for SQL Server
