Product Owner (software development)

The Product Owner is responsible for functional and non-functional features (what is to be implemented), the efficient operability and maintainability as well as the commercial success of the product (subproduct). Product Owner shapes the product (subproduct) in order to maximize commercial benefit for the company.
The position will be introduced with a large size software development project replacing an existing software. The position is to be established with the start of the development of the respective product and will be continued after successful implementation for the maintenance and further development of the product.
Tasks
• Functional leadership of Development Team
• Close cooperation with Architecture Owner, Chief Product Owner and other Product Owners
• Presents product (subproduct) to all internal and external stakeholders and ensures their involvement
• Actively identifies market requirements and develops a product strategy
• Conducts commercial analysis for his/her product as well as its development projects
• Defines and announces releases
• Provides information about the status of product (subproduct)
• Organizes and conducts milestone reviews
• Negotiates scope, priorities, commercials and delivery dates
• Ensures transparency of product backlog
• Special tasks handed over by superior
Prerequisites
• University degree, preferably in IT, Aeronautics or related subjects or similar (international) degree, alternatively successfully completed and relevant vocational training including a long-standing relevant on-the-job experience (e.g. as dispatcher, aeronautical specialist, commercial pilot, etc.)
• Profound know-how in development or maintenance of software products in close customer cooperation
• Very high functional competence of the requirements and goals of the product’s (subproducts) customers as well as the product line, market and competition
• Very high knowledge about the product (subproduct) he/she is responsible for
• Good knowledge of requirements management (functional and non-functional)
• Good knowledge of agile software production methods
• Knowledge of preparation and cost effectiveness calculations
• Leadership skills
• High reliability as well as high willingness to take over responsibility and strength in decision making
• Very good analytical and conceptual skills
• Very good communication skills as well as moderation skills
• Strong service orientation, innovative spirit, independent working methods and skills in dealing with customers
• Well-developed team spirit as well as experience in solving conflicts (crisis management)
• Self-confidence, good contact and cooperation skills, high ability to work under pressure
• Flexibility, Mobility and willingness to travel
• Very good verbal skills and skills to describe complex situations precisely and comprehensible in oral and written form
• Fluent in English (oral and written), fluent in German (optional)
