Job Purpose Statement
Develops, recommends and implements effective procurement solutions and services for an assigned area of the EMEA business. Leads/participates in the development and implementation of significant improvements to services, initiatives to reduce or maintain costs and/or achieve required compliance (SOX, legal, financial P&P etc). Leads/participates in global/EMEA projects to enhance systems or core processes.
Job Size:
Jobholders have responsibility for either one or more country or assigned commodity types - Jobholders may be based in remote countries - Involves leading/participating in high value/high level vendor negotiation - Approximately 500 supplier contracts reviewed by the team each year - contract spend approximately 400 m usd per annum / large contract could be 40-50 m usd - 16 commodity types (eg temporary manpower, company cars, office supplies etc )
Key Accountabilities:
Develops/ maintains an in depth knowledge of procurement methodologies ( TCO, RFI, RFP practices, market, systems, strategies & tactics etc) together with a good overview of the FedEx business (goals, organisation, key processes, Finance P&P etc). Applies learning by delivering new and enhanced p rocurement services for EMEA. Improves team effectiveness by sharing learning with the Manager and relevant peers.
Identifies and acts on opportunities to deliver significant benefits (cost, service, improved timelines, process etc) for assigned commodities and/or countries These could be high value and are key to supporting business performance. Typically involves complex requirements (eg telecommunications, cross border trucking, LOGOS etc), working with technical user groups, evaluation of multi country markets, negotiations of rates/terms, development of business proposals etc. Manages the implementation process (contracts, communications, process changes etc), including post evaluation to ensure the required improvements are achieved. Reviews actions to ensure that they are compliant with P&P and SOX requirements.
Ensures users receive effective access/service from approved suppliers (ie approved product & price, set service standards) within their assigned area through effective management of vendor performance. Includes developing and using KPIs to measure performance and identify improvement opportunities. Negotiates and agrees action plans.
Leads/participates in global or EMEA driven projects (e.g. Logos, PS to replace Ariba etc) to enhance procurement processes and/or systems that may deliver multi million dollar savings and provide user efficiencies. Includes involvement in analysing, recommending and developing systems changes, revised financial processes, selection of outsource solutions, determining treasury and tax impact etc. Presents proposals and status updates to Snr Management. Leads/participates in the communication/training for user groups
