Our client is a professional Food organization, based in Brussel Belgium.
The company is a household name in the food & beverage industry with highly advanced QC laboratories and lots of opportunities for career development.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Do you have a passion for Quality Control? This is a unique opportunity to use and further develop your skills and experience. You will lead method development and method validation for flavors in the Global QC Lab which employs 40 analysts. You will be involved in various projects to handle complaints and perform root cause analysis and in-depth investigations. You will also be the Global Subject Matter Expert on method development and method validation and keep track of both the scientific literature and competitors. This position will not have direct reports, however you will lead various project teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Benchmark processes and method analysis against the competition and implementing improvements where necessary.
- Act as an SME for method validation, including participation in scientific discussions and cooperation with other Sr. QC Coordinators.
- Implement and maintain a quality system for the laboratory and perform audits.
- Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis to handle customer complaints.
- Perform advanced analysis of ingredients, specifically LC and GC.
- Make investment recommendations with regard to lab equipment and act as an advisor for new projects, processes, equipment, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
- Master's Degree in Bio-Engineering, Chemistry or similar; PhD in Chemistry preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in an SME or leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of flavors, LC and GC.
- Knowledge of SPC, GLP, food safety and ISO 17025.
- Strong analytical skills and computer skills, including LIMS.
- Publications in scientific journals recommended.
- Fluency in English required; fluency in Dutch and/or French is a plus.
