Payroll Controller

Location: Cracow

 

Job Description:

This role is in local HR team which is part of the wider Global Human Resources Shared Services Team. The role is responsible for coordinating payroll activities and supporting the personal administration, benefits, and HR operations for Poland.

 

Reporting to the Payroll Manager based in Krakow and being a part of a larger Global Payroll/HR Shared Services team the Payroll Specialist and Controller will assist in all aspects of processing payroll for corporation of 3500+ employees. The candidate must be able to work effectively as a team member, perform day to day overseeing of payroll transactions and ensure all department deadlines are met and all payrolls are processed in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain a high level of payroll knowledge as well as working knowledge of taxes, personal administration and work time to ensure compliance with payroll policies, regulations and procedures.

 

Brief description of role, key responsibilities:

  • Specialist in Payroll with working knowledge of Polish payroll calculations to be able to verify transactions performed by payroll vendor
  • Responsible for smooth and effective payroll process form the end to end – completing and delivery data to payroll vendor, data accuracy, reconcile payroll prior to transmission to validate data and reports for accuracy, etc.
  • Maintain complete and accurate payroll files including payroll reports, tax information, and supporting documents
  • Ensure payroll is in compliance with applicable laws regulations
  • Manage internal workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Knowledge of taxation would be an asset
  • Work closely with the Accounting Department to ensure timely posting of payroll information to the general ledger
  • Supporting HR administration activities in a timely, accurate and efficient manner in line with local legislative requirements including relevant paper work preparation & sign off
  • Creates, reviews and updates policies and procedures within Payroll/HR Shared Services as needed that includes design, preparation and implementation of new GHR SS processes
  • Prepares and distributes standard and ad hoc reports within specified guidelines
  • Responsible for building and maintaining close relationship with GHR Shared Services global, regional and local vendors as required to deliver high standard service to internal clients;
  • Supports junior colleagues – providing guidance and coaching especially in the area of Payroll;
  • Perform other duties as requested by regional and global HR leads when requested. Potential to provide support on regional Payroll /Shared Services related projects

 

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have a proven track record with min. 4 year experience in HR Polish Payroll Role
  • University degree in Human Resources, would be an asset.

 

Skills required

  • Fluency in both written and verbal English
  • Very good working knowledge of MS Excel (i.e. vlookup, pivot table, conditional formatting etc.)
  • Demonstrates good understanding and knowledge of Polish legislation in Payroll
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Detail and deadline oriented
  • Strong team player
  • Flexible, “can do” attitude
  • Proactive, expected to put forward ideas/suggestions to improve policies, processes and procedures
