JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT:
To develop, design and oversee implementation of strategic expansion plans in non-direct served regions. To develop, design and oversee implementation of programmes to introduce new products or system changes to those regions. To provide support to sales and marketing in order to increase revenues and to achieve targets as outlined in the business plan. To develop, design and oversee implementation of a strategy for regional trade mark coverage and to ensure its integrity. To develop, design and oversee implementation of strategic plans to reduce transit times to/from non-direct served regions to/from all parts of the world equal to or better than the competition, yet within budgeted guidelines. To work with regional GSP agents to develop, design and oversee implementation of new service offerings such as regional distribution systems, ensuring standards of service measurement and maximising financial gain to the company.

JOB SIZE/DIMENSIONS:
Regional Scopes, 85 countries, 35 agents, average total volume 7,000 packs/day

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  1. Develops and updates expansion plans for all GSP served countries within the region. Keeps record of performance against plan for expansion developments and provides feedback on revision to management and the agents.
  2. Plans and co-ordinates all new product offerings produced by the corporation (such as new AWB designs, automation developments, system form changes and any other regional change of a systemic nature). Communicates those changes and oversees the implementation for the GSP region.
  3. Obtains any available marketing data from the agent and works with sales to explore service opportunities to gain additional business. Participates in direct sales calls with the responsible account executive and/or with the sales representative of the agent. 4. Develops, updates and negotiates trademark agreement plans for all GSP served countries within the region. Works with the legal department and the agents to ensure the integrity of the agreements. Keeps record of performance against plan for global trademark coverage and provides feedback on revisions to management and the agents.
  4. Develops and updates plans for transit time reductions for all GSP served countries within the region to/from the rest of the world. Provides current listings of transit alternatives with cost implications. Initiates those plans whereby they are deemed cost beneficial in regard to service gain.
  5. Works with GSP agents to offer enhanced regional coverage where appropriate. Designs, develops and implements systems for service measurement by working with the agent and with ITD along with volume measurement systems. Negotiates with the agent in order to maximise financial gain to the corporation on regional products.
  6. Works with departmental support functions such as customer invoicing, customer service and finance to provide long term strategic development plans for the region in order to enhance our service offerings to the customer while still achieving the business plan. Develops these plans to protect the company’s interest long term.
  7. Negotiates new contractual rates with agents for pick-up, delivery, clearance and linehaul operations on behalf of FedEx. Ensures that FedEx realises productivity/revenue gains in relation to increases in volumes handled by the agent. Specifies in the contract minimum levels of acceptable service, deadlines for information transfer, rights of exclusivity and penalties for non-compliance, inclusive of termination of contract.
  8. Organises and leads special task forces to improve regional performance in relation to service issues and efforts to reduce cost.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 years plus in the logistics (transportation or distribution environments) industry, ideally 2 of which would have been at a senior level role managing multi-site locations, including either upsizing or downsizing a business
  • The role holder should hold an MBA or have equivalent qualification or workplace experience
  • Goal driven, target orientated, able to step back and look at the bigger picture (helicopter view), the person will also be able to manage ambiguity with their sleeves rolled up, and possess a preparedness to get involved
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of problem solving and very strong analytical skill capability as he/ she will is required to look at and find solutions for a variety of operations problems.
  • Excellent communication skills (English written and verbally),
  • High dependability - be there to manage countries - and able to use initiative
  • Must be flexible and able to manage a business that can operate 24/6 and commit the time required to get the job done.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage, motivate and influence work behaviors
  • Proven ability to understand and improve metrics at multiple country level
