Financial Reporting Technical Expert

Location: Krakow

 

Job Description:

Purpose of the role:

Financial Reporting Technical Expert will engage in various projects, special analysis and initiatives relating to technical aspects of the process of preparing financial statements in accordance to regulatory frameworks and regional accounting standards in the UK, Luxembourg, Ireland or Switzerland. The candidate would ideally have working experience in audit and reporting environment with significant exposure to regulatory frameworks and accounting standards.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review high quality sets of reconciliations and reporting packs to be used in financial statements (including Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Schedule of Investments, Notes to Financial Statements) for annual and interim reporting cycles
  • Assist Financial Reporting Supervisor and teams to ensure all deliverables are produced and dispatched on time in accordance with client service level agreements and agreed quality standards
  • Participate as technical SME in the development, testing and implementation of new systems to increase productivity through the usage of information systems and other tools
  • Contribute to analysis and planning of financial reporting Operating Model with the aim of standardizing processes and establishing best practice
  • Act as central point of contact for technical issues encountered in the daily business in order to reduce to a minimum the number of queries to the Customer; track issue trends and escalate as needed
  • Provide technical and planning support for new business transitions to Poland and ensure proper governance and controls are in place; perform post-transition analysis to identify process gaps
  • Analyze and adapt to new accounting and financial reporting standards in cooperation with the Customer (UK SORP, LUX GAAP, FRS 102 and IFRS)
  • Prepare and review audit documentation; act as immediate point of contact to internal clients on specialized audits or reviews if necessary; provide assistance and support during financial statements audits and internal control reviews
  • Take a leading role in the review of corporate documentation of processes, procedures and controls; evaluate their continuing effectiveness and accuracy, initiate remedial action as necessary and ensure documentation exists for any client-specific procedures
  • Work closely with Training Department and business lines to identify training needs within the team; ensure that those needs are met by delivering training sessions to staff on agreed topics
  • Work to tight deadlines in order to finalize client deliverables
  • Assist Team Supervisor in the organization of the Team and in ensuring that departmental procedures and controls are adhered to
  • Perform other ad hoc tasks delegated by the Line Manager

 

Requirements:

  • Accountancy or Business related degree (preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a financial reporting environment or 4 years funds experience
  • Numeracy / Literacy skills
  • Excellent English
  • Accuracy and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • PC literate and competent in use of spreadsheets and word processing
  • Have a thorough understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Have an enquiring mind and a willingness to investigate and solve problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to delegate work to junior staff in the department
