Working in the product development team, reporting to the Group Software Development Manager you are responsible for the maintenance and development of the companies’ products and website, which has in excess of 15,000 hits per day. These include UK, Scandinavian and continental sites.
Primary responsibilities:
An experienced C# developer with very good web experience, including:
ASP.NET 1.1 & 2.0 web;
XML/XSLT/XPATH/XML DOM/XSD.
Development skills required include most aspects of web development (HTML , Javascript), .NET C#, ASP.NET.
Good understanding of SQL including:
Stored Procedures;
Views;
Creating Tables;
Adding Tables;
General understanding of Relational Database design;
We run predominantly Oracle databases, but experience on any other platform is an excellent starting point.
Good understanding of n-tier architectures.
Maintain the web services, and work towards a 99.9% uptime of all web service infrastructure and associated servers and hardware;
Develop bespoke WebPages using the Microsoft .net frame work (predominantly asp.net with C#) for the SafeinformationGroup as well as intranet systems;
Work with customers on XML integration developments;
Work with source control tools (Specific tool not important, ability to follow procedures essential):
Team Coherence – QSC;
Microsoft SourceSafe.
MISC IT:
Work one-on-one with users on projects when required;
Provide support of web services driven applications.
Writing of Technical Specifications from Business generated Functional Specifications;
Serve as a liaison between users, the I.T. department and third parties to resolve issues;
Work to deadlines and management of own work to keep within those deadlines;
Liaise with internal users and developers to improve existing products and services;
Estimation of time of development projects and functionality changes;
Liaise with other software developers to develop new products;
Document resolutions for future reference using support desk software
Additional responsibilities:
Work with business analyst to ensure all updates are carried out on web data.
Work with network consultant on desktop and network tasks to resolve issues.
Knowledge & skill requirements:
Computing studied to degree level or equivalent work experience.
At least 2 years experience of Windows technologies.
Windows XP, NT, 2000 workstation and server version.
Desktop productivity software including Microsoft Office (XP/2003/2007).
Microsoft Back Office (Windows 2003, IIS 6).
Web based programming skills (.net, asp, html, xml) – C# preferred
Dream Weaver 2004 MX Suite (desirable)
Experience of web solutions running on Oracle back end
FTP and associated technology.
