Role Description

They are looking for a motivated Assistant Scientist to evaluate the immunogenicity and efficacy of potential vaccine candidates. In addition, the role also involves non-laboratory responsibilities providing support across the Bacterial Vaccines Department on documentation and training.

Responsibilities

The company is looking for a motivated Assistant Scientist to evaluate the immunogenicity and efficacy of potential vaccine candidates. In addition, the role also involes non-laboratory responsibilities providing support across the Bacterial Vaccines Department on documentation and training. The focus in the laboratory (expected to be around 75% of the time) will be on bacteriology and immunological techniques such as bacterial culture, ELISA and functional antibody assays such as neutralizing, serum bactericidal and opsonophagocytic assays. Work will be performed under supervision of a Scientist. Work will be performed at BSL2 (vaccination may be required). The Assistant Scientist will be responsible for the performance of assays and analysis of results.

The non-laboratory responsibilities (expected to be around 25% of the time) will involve review and archiving of documents, organizing and updating databases, and writing new procedures. Work will be performed under the supervision of a Senior Scientist.

Requirements

• Bachelor or Master degree (BSc/MSc) in a relevant discipline such as biology, life sciences, or related fields or HLO.
• Previous experience working with bacteria and/or immunological methods (e.g. bacterial culture, ELISA, OPKA or SBA) is preferable.
• Previous experience in a pharmaceutical environment, particularly within a regulated environment, is advantageous.
• Good skills in documentation and time management are required.
