Test Lead

PURPOSE STATEMENT

As Test Lead for Track and Trace solution provides the lead on all matters related to testing and quality assurance across all components of the solution. Cover all phases of the testing (Unit Testing, System Testing, NF Testing, Regression, UAT). Build highly effective team of Test Managers who ensure test methods, processes and plans are robust, mitigate business risk and push the system to its limit. Works closely with Template Delivery Lead and Deployment Lead to drive continuous improvement of testing methodology and transformation towards Agile testing and increased use of automation.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Test strategy & management

• Define fit for purpose test strategy (covering both manual & auto test execution) that reduces risk exposure of business; ensure the test strategy goes through appropriate governance bodies
• Manage the team of Test Managers responsible for different aspects of the solution; mentor & provide support to team members internally & externally
• Stakeholder engagement & management across various levels within the organisation
• Drive continuous improvement of the testing practice based on regular measurement and reviews

Test execution

• Ensure adherence and execution of approved test strategy by all relevant stakeholders (covering external suppliers and internal customers)
• Manages defects across different delivery partners
• Creates test plan & reports across multiple applications
• Ensures devising & carrying out of both manual and automated tests to establish the quality of various software component in scope
• Create test plans and monitor execution for performance testing

Agile testing and test automation

• Be on the lookout for emerging testing technologies and practices that can help BAT in its digital testing ambitions further
• Define and drive test automation agenda to enable Continuous Delivery Pipeline
• Introduces testing methodologies and practices supporting Agile delivery (e.g. TDD, ATDD, CI, CD); monitor practices’ implementation throughout SI development teams
• Manages internal/external partners responsible for test automation

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

ia Skills required

• Degree educated IT professional with business-facing IT experience in a global environment
• Strong planning and prioritisation skills, with working knowledge of agile practices
• Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills with ability to clearly communicate, engage, influence and inspire colleagues and stakeholders
• Leading/coaching skills, previous experience in building teams of test managers and testers; leading by example
• Technical background and willingness to get hands dirty
• Experienced in handling dependencies, risk and issues and respective mitigation in all required levels
• Commitment to ongoing personal development and the ability to recognise and celebrate effort and success of colleagues

ib Experience

• A seasoned IT professional with, as a guideline 5 to 7 years’ experience in the field of Software Testing
• Multinational FMCG and FTSE-100 experience
• Experience at working across multiple end markets/factories & vendors to achieve a common goal
• Basic understanding of automation testing tools such as UFT, Selenium, Appium, Python, Katalon Studio, Tosca etc
• Understanding of SDLC & STLC
• Excellent practical knowledge of HP ALM & Jira
• In depth knowledge & understanding of core testing tool & approaches
• Thorough understanding & experience in desktop, mobile, & bespoke application testing
• Experience of testing delivery in both agile & waterfall projects
• Practical skill in manual & automated testing
• Prior experience of vendor management
• Prior experience of managing enterprise wide testing
• Nice to have: knowledge of RPA tools- UI Path
• Nice to have: knowledge of Serialization and Track and Trace processes and solutions (e.g. Inextor, Talend, WMS)
• Nice to have: ISTQB/ISEB Qualification
• Nice to have: Selenium/Appium of any other automation tool coding experience

Key Success Factors

• Establish and lead highly performant team of test managers and testers responsible for all aspects of testing from developing new features to deployment of the solution to new end markets
• Test strategy is clearly articulated and followed on all stages of SDLC
• Enable switch to Continuous Delivery from testing automation and practices point of view
• Build close relationship with Product Development and Deployment teams to ensure coherent approach to testing & early visibility of the changes (shift to the left)
