SQL Server Database Administrator

Seeking an individual to perform SQL Server Database Administration in a highly available e-commerce enterprise. In this role, you will work in all environments (production and non-production) to provide database maintenance, support, configuration, upgrades, performance tuning, and capacity planning within the team.

Description

• Responsible for SQL Server Software installation and upgrades.
• Performs application security configuration and administration.
• Performs logical database design and physical database implementation.
• Actively engaged in Modernizing Enterprise Data Services leveraging of Cloud Infrastructure
• Is instrumental in SQL Server database creation, monitoring and performance tuning.
• Is responsible for application/SQL troubleshooting and tuning.
• Develops and implements Backup and Recovery Strategies.
• Reviews SQL code and database object designs against standards and best practices.
• Performs database administration with Automation and scripting as a goal.
• Plays active technical role in the planning phase of new projects.
• Works closely with customers to determine their strategic business requirements and measures system performance against expectations.
• Supports production systems, as required, by optimizing performance, helping resolve problems, and providing timely follow-up on problem reports.
• Will serve as technical lead on projects.
• Coordinates implementation activities with other parts of the enterprise.
• Participates in presentations to senior leadership.
• Communicates plans, status and issues to higher management levels.
• Works directly with all areas in IT and has close working relationship with IT peer group.
• Assists IT peers and junior engineers in technical issue resolution.
• Provides technical direction, and training to other IT personnel.
• Mentors team members within and outside of the DBA Team ensuring strong collaboration, cross training and strong business knowledge.
• Champions personal development through learning new skills and critical business knowledge.
• Participates in on-call duty 24/7 pager rotation.
• Sets a good example by modeling HSN values and desired behaviors.

Profile

What You Bring:

• Must possess practical Windows OS experience.
• Must demonstrate skills in the following areas: RDMS Software and Tools Installation, Configuration Management, Security Administration, Monitoring and Tuning, Backup and Recovery, Troubleshooting and Efficient use of database storage.
• Must have regular experience administering moderate to large databases (over 400GB).
• Must possess the ability to work independently and in Team settings.
• History of collaborating with Application Development Teams.
• 4+ years of SQL Server Database Administration.
• 4+ years of T-SQL.
• 4+ years of Backup and Recovery.
• Database Design / Data Modeling experience.
• 2-4 years Highly Available Performance Tuning.
• Experience in Troubleshooting / Problem Solving Skills.
• Performance Tending and Communication.
• Ability to establish a high level of Management and Client trust.

• SQL Server 2019/2016/2012/2008R2 Administration
• Azure Cloud Experience with solid Fundamentals Knowledge
• MS Clustering and Always-On Administration
• Enterprise Monitoring and Workload Monitoring Tool
• SOX/PCI Audit Experience
