About the role
Ever wondered what it would be like to develop market leading features for the UK’s number 1 ‘investment supermarket’ for private investors? Hargreaves Lansdown, a FTSE 100 company, look after over £70.0 billion for 876,000 active clients from their landmark head office in Bristol. From starting out in a back bedroom in Bristol 35 years ago the company now employs more than 1,000 people in the UK. A huge part of their success has been down to their investment in IT. HL Tech is a new Hargreaves Lansdown’s technology center that will allow us to bring innovative new products to the market, and to support its rapid growth we are looking to expand its technology capabilities. The entire HL Tech team will be based in prime real estate in central Warsaw.
You will be working as part of an Agile/Scrum squad dedicated to greenfield projects that will create innovation, a major step forward in next generation client service on the £700 billion savings market in the UK.
We are looking for highly skilled & motivated Solution Architects who enjoy seeing their work making a measurable impact to a business and disrupting the status quo.
Our development squads will consist of Java Developers, Test Engineers and IT Analysts and will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the entire product.
Solution Architect
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Designing architecture for our new technology software solutions
• Participating from earliest stages of the project, designing ideas, proposing technical concepts, making the choices on the applications’ shape
• Acting as key stakeholder and decision maker in order to keep best development practices throughout the software development cycle
• Working collaboratively as part of a team, cooperation with Developers, Analysts and Test Engineers
• Data structure reviews, achieving highest possible system performance by conducting software optimizations
• Continually identifying and implementing improvements through technical debt reduction
• Actively contributing to the scrum process (stand ups, automated tests, retrospectives, etc.) and the overall output of the team
• Doing whatever is necessary to deliver working code at the end of each iteration
• Meeting regulatory compliance standards
Essential Skills
• Experience in similar role, with responsibilities including architecture design, technology project advisory, decision making, mentoring developers
• Programming skills, gained throughout your professional career (at least 5 years of experience in software development is required), knowledge on technologies such as Java in the recent versions,
• Analytical thinking ability, solving complex problems and being able to think creatively
• Being able to match world of business and technology, present your own ideas in the best possible way and influence or motivate others
• Comfortable working in a Scrum/Agile team
• Business oriented attitude
• Finding innovate solutions to problems
• Have a mindset of continuous improvement in everything you do
• Tenacious, with a pride in what you do
Desirable Skills
• A degree in computing, IT or a numerate discipline
• Knowledge of finance products
• Experience with Spring, Spring Boot or any other cutting-edge technology you think will help you to achieve your goals
• Familiarity with database programming
• Communicating with multiple internal and external services & APIs
• Experience and passion to work in DevOps approach
• Practical knowledge on developing using JavaScript, Angular.js node.js or any other
• Specific experience of using our development tools: JUnit, PhantomJS, Jenkins or any other
