Your new role:
You will be involved in building from a scratch an Enterprise Software team to build the tools, processes and sustaining operations to commercialise the company technology, while enabling our product team to continue the rapid development and expansion of core features. The Manager Software Engineering will lead the development of this Enterprise Software function.
The first priorities are to build the core team and to begin our Software Development Life Cycle automation journey. This will be rapidly followed by developing the architecture for a connected platform and building out an operations capability to support the deployment of the first-generation product.
This position requires strong technical and leadership skills, a demonstrated ability to build a high performing team, and a comfort with being a hands-on leader.

Responsibilities:
- Directs and oversees the software engineering function in developing, releasing, and maintaining software applications according to business needs.
- Build and lead a team of engineers, architects, product security, testing and operations specialists that will drive continuous improvement and automation of the full software development life cycle.
- Set and exceed targets for increasing the velocity and quality of software builds.
- Establish DevOps, Product Security, Computer System Validation, and Operational capabilities in support of the product with internal and/or external capabilities.
- Establish policies and procedure that produce high-quality software product and service.
- Oversee recruitment, hiring and training initiatives.
- Take responsibility for overall planning, execution and success of complex technical projects.
- Contribute technically to projects via architecture, security, reviews, and methods.
- Identify, research and engage third parties in pursuit of buy vs build opportunities.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience, 4+ years in managerial capacity with at least 5 direct reports.
- Expertise establishing and managing multiple teams across multiple time zones.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and effectively coach individuals and develop strong teams
- Breadth and depth of experience across all phases of the software development lifecycle and corresponding best practices for procedures, methods and technologies in support of a highly automated and effective environment
- Demonstrated experience in architecting connected, secure, integrated connected device solutions that leverage commercially available services.
- Practical experience with Azure services, administration and DevOps
- 3+ years’ experience building backing API software solutions with RESTful APIs and JSON
- Expertise with object oriented back-end languages/technologies such a as Java, .Net, Python, etc.
- Experience with enterprise architecture and scaling
- Education: BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly desired (e.g., Engineering, Business Administration, Computer Science, etc.).
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, collaborative, prioritisation and decision-making skills.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Experience and/or knowledge of Medical Devices, Healthcare IT Systems, and Medical Device Regulatory requirements strongly preferred.
