working in breeding, production, packaging, sales and distribution of vegetable

As one of our Senior Scientist (Breeding) Statistics you are part of the Technology
Development group within the R&D division of Bayer Vegetable Seeds. This group consists of
15 colleagues covering the fields of Digital Phenotyping, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics and
are mostly based in the Netherlands as well as in the USA. You will be responsible for
statistics research in Vegetable Seeds in EMEA and APAC and you will be based in the
Netherlands.

Your mission is to contribute to the strategy for data-driven decision making in breeding and
to define and conduct statistics research. You will support your internal clients (Breeders,
Pre-breeders) with set-up and analysis of experiments and breeding practices and to
implement novel data analysis based breeding technologies. For this it is important that you
can connect to all aspects of R&D within Vegetable Seeds, you create practical solutions for
R&D questions and you translate externally available technologies into implemented and
accepted solutions.

- Manage the statistics team in the Netherlands
- Define, execute and manage strategic research projects on
  breeding statistics towards data driven decision making
- Implement data analysis based breeding technologies that fulfill the
  needs of internal clients and are accepted by clients and stakeholders
- Support internal clients with set-up and analysis of experiments and 
  breeding practices
- Scout for new and improved breeding statistics approaches, applications
  and collaborations
- Work independently along the group strategy to which you also
  actively contribute
- Align developments with systems and practices existing in Bayer
- Actively interact with other Bayer statistics groups

• Post-doctoral research experience (preferred)
• Ph.D. degree in quantitative genetics, statistics or (molecular)
biology / breeding with applications in (plant) breeding (Must)
• At least five years of relevant working experience
• Extensive experience in using the R-programming language (Must)
• A network within the community of breeding statistics
• Excellent project management skills
• Excellent intercultural communication
