Senior Java Developer

Hands-on development role on the London IRD Development team to work on the strategic Interest Rate Derivative components. Specifically to work on IRD trade processing components, build new strategic trade flow system.

Ignite is a distributed system with a number of functional components. The role will cover work on any of these components including 3rd line dev support on a rota basis with callout under exceptional circumstances.

• The team is currently 4 London based developers working with another sister team in India (10 engineers). A QA team is also in place
• The platform is being developed closely with user working groups and business who sit in London
• The IRD area is Java server-side services written using microservice architecture. It's a technically challenging environment due to the distributed services architecture. These services support trade processing, querying, workflows and is used by various consumers in the bank
• Specific responsibilities to include design, development, testing and releasing to production of new functionality through the stack across a number of technologies and components. An element of technical analysis and data modelling will be expected to be completed as part of significant deliverables, in conjunction with the technical BAs made available as appropriate

• In depth knowledge of Java (8 and above), distributed systems, caching technologies
• In depth knowledge of microservices architecture
• Experience of RESTful interfaces
• Understanding of Interest Rate Derivative products, instruments, market data
• Experience in Agile environment
• Excellent multithreaded server-side Java development
• Proven experience designing and building scalable, high performance applications in global deployment scenarios.
• Performance profiling of java applications
• Experience of Linux/Unix environments and scripting
• Delivery/solution orientated individual, self-starter and strong team player.
