To achieve our ambitious growth goals we are currently looking for a Risk Manager Valuation – Alternative Investments.
Your Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Leading a newly setup valuation team and implement valuation processes for alternative investments and monitor the team’s day-to-day business being responsible for quality and review of:
– Preparation of transition calculations of target funds from at cost to fair value and vice versa
– Creation of valuation memos (fair values, impaired assets)
– Assessment of impairment needs, especially for loans
– Develop and set up valuation models
– Selection and coordination of external service provides in respect of valuation (such as valuation agents and independent appraisers) and assess quality delivered
– Performing backtesting for target funds and drift analysis for target hedge funds on an ongoing basis
– Verification and monitoring of DCF models
– Support in determining acquisition values for target funds acquired via secondary market transactions
• Being part of a central department within UI's core business to perform key duties as AIFM
• Support internal stakeholders and auditors with required information (such as valuation committee)
• Ensuring deadlines are met
• Manage team's service standards and enhance processes as well as being responsible of idea creation
• Monitoring team member's progression to identify areas for training and development
• Assist and guide junior staff, reviewing and signing off on work performed
• Supporting your senior management to implement changes of the operating model, to achieve efficiency and control objectives
• Participate in projects to strengthen company's processes/business/initiatives
What you offer:
As successful candidate, you will bring the following:
• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, finance, physics, or other business-related areas and/or studying financial professional qualification (CFA, FMVA, CVA, CAIA etc.)
• Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant work experience (e.g. working for an AIFM, valuation agent, auditor or asset management company) with at least 2 years of experience in managing staff
• General understanding of accounting methods and principals
• Experiences in setting up and implementing valuation models and being aware of risk assessment
• In depth knowledge of characteristics of private equity/debt and infrastructure investments especially experienced in valuating such illiquid assets
• Hands-on mentality
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and proactively
• Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English (both written and verbal)
• Advanced skills in MS Excel
