Release Manager

Location: Remote Poland
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Manage the end-to-end release process to promote the highest level of quality in a technology implementation / release. Responsible for coordination of overall release effort - managing all cross-team dependencies and accounting for all business priorities in defining, constructing, certifying, and scheduling an application / change release into the testing and production environments respectively.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for code through development, test, and production environments and build the centralized Release Calendar for various portfolios across the department.
  • Manage all cross-team release dependencies and consider business priorities when scoping, planning, and certifying an application / change release into the testing and production environments respectively
  • Help analyze and communicate the likely impacts of the new release to the technology and business communities
  • Validate application development plans and release schedules and approve emergency releases
  • Provide inputs to QA Management when planning the testing process and defining the approach for user acceptance testing
  • Conduct release impact assessments, release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business Go/No-Go reviews and participate in CAB meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
  • Design and manage the configuration management process for transferring application-related changes between the development environments and the production environment
  • Lead the effort of defining and implementing modernized release management tools to ensure the process and quality requirements are built in through collaboration with Engineering and QE Teams
  • Adhere to configuration management standards and methodologies when overseeing the software development cycle through the various test environments and its implementation into production
  • Ensure that policy, regulatory and control requirements are met though execution of standard transition checklists and procedures

  • Establish and maintain working relationships across the technology organization
  • Encourage strong partnerships with the businesses and other technology team members
  • Participate in and support process improvement initiatives

People Management

  • Manage individual and team workload to deliver to agreed upon project milestones
  • Promote effective teamwork and resolve interpersonal issues
  • Provide input to staffing plans at the project-level to identify key / required skills

Knowledge Sharing / Management

  • Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
  • Promote the use of knowledge management processes and tools
  • Share / leverage successful products, processes and best practices across the technology organization
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by leveraging quality improvement methodologies

SKILLS

MUST
  • College degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 2-6 years of previous release and/or project management experience, (Solid understanding of project management principles preferred)
  • 8 to 10 years of relevant development, testing and / or project management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of relevant configuration and release management tools is a must
