THE COMPANY
Our client is a professional Food organization, based in Antwerpen Belgium.
It is a multinational company that is known for several household brands. The site in Belgium is one of the company's largest and most advanced in Europe, employing about 650 people and running 24/7. The company is pursuing a drive in quality, and they need a QA Food Safety Manager to make it happen!
ROLE DESCRIPTION
As QA Food Safety Manager, you are responsible for all food safety-related issues in the production site. As the head of the Food Safety Department, you are responsible for implementing, maintaining and improving HACCP and food safety systems, including audits, prerequisite programs and continuous improvement projects. You will implement Group Level policies and adapt them to local conditions, raising awareness among the production personnel for food safety issues. You will also be closely involved with the installation of new equipment and the launch of new products. To assist you, you will have 3 direct reports and you will report to the QA Director.
This is a senior role for experienced QA and Food Safety professionals. In this role, you will work with the company's European upper management and have the opportunity to grow into an international role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that the plant produces according to food safety standards.
- Manage the Food Safety Department (3 direct reports).
- Implement and improve food safety systems, taking into consideration legal and Group Level demands.
- Organise internal and external audits.
- Coach and train staff members, raising awareness for food safety issues.
- Perform trend analyses and continuously improve the site's performance on food safety KPI's.
REQUIREMENTS
- At minimum a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biosciences, or similar; a Master's Degree in Bio-Engineering or a similar degree is an advantage.
- At least 10 years of experience in a similar QA and/or FS role, at least 5 years of which in a leadership role.
- Experience with HACCP, FSSC 22000 or BRC/IFS.
- Extensive knowledge of food safety, including microbiological and physical contamination risks.
- Experience in a large, internationally focussed company is an advantage.
- Fluency in Dutch and English.
