With your strong technical background in the automotive or engineering sector and experience in the design of plastic/elastomer components, you will be responsible for the development, design and validation of new products within the product group of Cooling Water Systems (CWS) in order to meet the needs of our customers throughout Europe, as well as the further development of the existing product portfolio.

Description

A person hired on this position will be responsible for:

  • Detailed product design under consideration of technical risk and customer technical requirements
  • Communication of the detailed design (e.g.: component list, drawings, validation results) to the project team
  • Organising and leading the design review and for the final output
  • Product verification and process validation as required to satisfy the customer demands and reduce risk for the company. This includes: - responsibility for the content and output of the D-FMEA
  • Content and output of the DVP for testing and calculation- ensuring that the necessary technical calculations are completed- initiating and monitoring the required tests
  • Initiating the prototype process for internal research and/or for customer and internal testing
  • All aspects of quotation and manufacturing drawings, including the creation and tracking of part numbers
  • Together with AE, is responsible for the definition of customer-owned interfacing components (e.g.: flanges, spigots, gaskets, etc.)
  • Active participation in project teams (e.g.: gate way reviews) and can be project manager for level 1 projects
  • Identifying, communicating and leading plant-based product development with an approximate time-line of 0 - 5 years
  • Identifying and communicating further necessary future advanced engineering needs
  • Initiating and leading design-to-cost, design-to manufacture, Global Excellence and VA/VE activities
  • Testing and calculating as regards technical competitor analysis (e.g.: bench marking)
  • Following the APQP actively
  • Developing and maintaining the design guide lines, as well as carrying out product training

Profile

  • Experience in designing parts made out of thermoplastic elastomers is mandatory
  • Experience in designing parts made by the technology of extrusion and injection moulding
  • Formal education in mechanical engineering, automotive, material science or similar
  • Experience and knowledge of extrusion and injection moulding materials and production processes (injection moulding, extrusion) is advantageous
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in designing thermoplastic components (preferably for automotive applications)
  • Highly motivated and self-driven character - enthusiasm to bring new innovative products into serial applications
  • Team spirit, creativity
  • Familiar with automotive processes such as APQP and D-FMEA - Good English language skills
