Role Description

The Steriles Device Team is managing a portfolio of legacy and new projects. With both there are developmental & technical challenges, problem investigations and continuous improvements to overcome, solve and implement.
The purpose of this role is to provide subject matter expertise to support the packaging technology team. The packaging engineer will be leading packaging related activities for combination product development. The majority activities are related to primary and secondary pack for combination products and authoring and reviewing design control documentation.
The role is global and will require to work across all phases of the projects. The packaging engineer will be part of a cross-functional team and will be required to contribute to multiple projects in parallel supporting all SDT portfolio device projects.

Responsibilities

- Supporting projects and processes through identification and implementation of technical solutions that involve packaging material selection and testing,
interactions with packaging materials, packaging machinability, components assembly and manufacturing or packaging processes.
- Supporting projects and processes through secondary pack development and verifying packaging design through distribution testing.
- Responsible for writing and reviewing packaging related design control documentation (e.g. design inputs, distribution protocol, etc.) and contribute to a high
quality Design History File (DHF)
- Packaging/device related trouble shooting and problem solving
- Manage relationships with primary, secondary pack and device suppliers, manufacturers, contract design houses, contract manufacturing companies, specialist
test houses.
- Drive and/or support packaging technology strategies/best practice

Requirements

- M.S. or PhD degree in Packaging, Packaging Materials, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Polymer Science or Engineering
- Track record in packaging development activities.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Knowledge (through practical experience) of GMP, EU and FDA regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of packaging, packaging materials, device development and manufacturing processes
- Understanding of packaging or device and drug/device combination regulatory and quality requirements
- Understanding manufacturing processes and distribution testing
