Medical Science Liaison

Location: Germany

Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) are Field-based Medical Affairs Associates of Norgine, who develop peer-to-peer relationships with Medical Experts/Key Stakeholders and members of the scientific community, utilising scientific and medical evidence-based non-promotional materials. They strategically prepare and support the development, launch and commercialisation of Norgine products through scientific exchange, seeking external insight to shape Norgine understanding of the therapeutic environment. Their activities begin up to two years prior to launch of a new molecule in development. They respond to unsolicited requests for scientific information and provide clinical trial support.

To support Medical and Scientific Affairs for the BeLux affiliate with a special focus on the products Lymphoseek® and Plenvu®, in order to provide high standard medical and scientific support and comply with regulations, guidelines and operations in force.

To internally support the marketing support, copy approval, pharmaco-vigilance, and other related interests of the business. To externally investigate the stakeholder network (not limited to oncology, radiotherapy / imaging department, nuclear medicines, radio-pharmacy as well as those involved in the payer & reimbursement process) and develop relationships with them.

Medical Science Liaisons 

Main tasks
Medical Knowledge Center

  • Deal with all medical science and information relevant for the geographical territory with a special focus on Lymphoseek® and Plenvu®
  • Develop and review medical information standard answers
  • Provide medical and scientific support in such a way that medical questions can be dealt with promptly, accurately and in line with legal requirements
  • Keep up-to-date with medical publications and studies that might be of interest to Netherlands and inform the management teams and sales teams as appropriate
  • Provide medical and scientific support for the marketing team ensuring that all promotional claims and activities are substantiated and justified
  • Support the implementation of (clinical) trials in the Netherlands
  • Check and write training manuals and material when necessary and arrange for translation of Global training manuals
  • Provide medical support and training to Norgine colleagues as well as supporting sales meetings and salesforce by researching, preparing and giving presentations / training including updates on relevant product information


KOL / Stakeholder Management

  • Develop effective relationships with key influencers (KOLs) and liaise with other stakeholders (authorities, payers, press, politicians, consultants)
  • Respond to unsolicited requests for scientific information from Medical Experts/Key Stakeholders using approved, non-promotional materials
  • Contribute to identification and mapping of Medical Experts/key stakeholders in line with local strategies
  • Provide and discuss scientific information and data with HCPs to ensure quality and accuracy of medical and scientific information on treatment options in the designated therapeutics areas for which Lymphoseek® and Plenvu® are registered
  • Support and/or write applications for pricing and reimbursement in BeLux
  • Upon investigator request, liaise between potential researcher and the Company on IIS (investigator initiated studies) submission process or requests for product / placebo to support independent clinical/preclinical research


Code of Practice

  • Ensure that activities for which the individual has responsibility or oversight are compliant with applicable Code of Practice relating to the promotion of medicines and devices, to the provision of information to patients and the public, to the relationships with patient groups and contacts with health care providers and/or institutions
  • Responsible for the review and approval of material as required by applicable Codes of Practise, Norgine Standards, and internal processes in the Belgian affiliate for which there is responsibility in conjunction with the Medical Director


Pharmacovigilance

  • Support reporting of all AE’s promptly and accurately to relevant Pharmacovigilance Department for processing
  • Manage the handling and reporting of all pharmacovigilance related matters where and when necessary and raising the awareness of pharmacovigilance to all staff
  • Give scientific support in such a way that Adverse Events can be reported in compliance with local regulations and Norgine SOP’s


Other

  • Contribute to budgets and forecasts of the department
  • Serve as a resource for projects and collaborate with internal colleagues as assigned by Medical Director
  • Seek legal support as need and ensure that all activities with third parties are subject to contractual agreement

Skills and knowledge

  • Minimum Degree in Life Sciences (medicines, MD, PharmD/pharmacist, PhD or other Life Sciences with a solid medical/technical background) and proven influencing skills, clinical research in-sight, business and market knowledge
  • Fluent in Dutch, English and French language
  • Preferably a few years relevant experience within a pharmaceutical company
  • Working knowledge of the BeLux Healthcare System
  • Training in applicable Codes of Practice
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Dutch, French and English
  • Proven ability to develop and foster peer-to-peer, credible relationships with Medical Experts/decision makers
  • Proven ability to use IT tools and interface effectively with a variety of technical platforms
  • Self-reliance, professionalism, high ethical standards and attention to detail are key qualities
  • High standard of customer service, team worker
  • Ability to adapt, organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment
