The role:
The Global HR Data Management Lead will provide global strategic direction and guidance related to all facets of our global HR data – standards and integrity, privacy, compliance, security and integrations across HR and to the business. This role requires an analytical data architect skill set combined with cross-functional HR knowledge to provide pro-active leadership for our global HR data management.

The Global HR Data Management Lead will be responsible for:
Data Standards and Integrity:
  • You will establish global HR data standards and definitions, including expectations for completeness in data fields, and work across HR to proactively communicate these standards.
  • Establish and communicate global records management expectations and storage timelines, to potentially be augmented with additional local requirements
  • Leading the effort to ensure that HR data architecture decisions support the business strategy, and that the architectures delivered are compliant with relevant AZ architecture standards, blueprints and roadmaps.
  • You will also drive up levels of HR data completeness and accuracy via data integrity championship throughout HR – HR Services, HRBPs and CoEs – and the Business.
  • Establish and maintain a proactive HR Services role in regular data assurance checks to sign off critical data fields and resolve errors, including the exploration of advanced data integrity tools/technologies that could enhance our current approach and improve accuracy Championing simplification of HR and organisational data structures, driving elimination of redundant/unnecessary codes and structures and serve as Global Process Owner (GPO) for our global data management processes,
  • driving continuous improvement and process effectiveness.

Integration:
  • You will act as HR’s lead in interactions with other parts of AZ related to organisational data, and represent HR’s interests in cross-AZ data forums. Working in close partnership with, IT, Finance and other parts of AZ to promote enterprise-wide enhancements to the value of our data assets, e.g. improved enterprise data storage, as well as the HR GPOs to keep up to date with developments and changes in Workday and other systems, ensuring that data integrations continue to work as expected.

Data Privacy and Security
  • Serving as AZ HR’s Privacy Officer, establishing and owning our data privacy expectations with Group Compliance and owning internal assurance processes. You will ensure effective linkage to the Global Data Privacy Office and provide HR perspective to global privacy strategies, regulatory changes and potential impacts on our business. Acting as an escalation point for data breaches and privacy impact assessments, including oversight of HR Ethics Point privacy issues.
  • Supporting regular data privacy communications and training to HR, using and further developing appropriate internal HR forums and channels. You will develop a strong understanding of AstraZeneca’s Data Policies and Standards, and contribute to their ongoing development ensuring compliance with relevant policies, processes and laws.
  • Owning the process and documentation for data access controls, providing guidance to the HR Services and IT teams responsible for granting and modifying access levels. You will ensure effective use of Privacy Impact Assessments in line with HR Data Privacy strategy, including through effective contracting and vendor management in relation to privacy. Support, through the data strategy, the effective management of third party providers using AZ personal data in order to deliver an effective and compliant end to end process.

Strategy and Proactivity:
  • You will actively scan and stay connected to the business to ensure awareness of changes and ability to react to key data implications and advise downstream data owners.
  • Incorporating industry best practices and emerging market trends into AZ’s global data management strategy and support the ongoing development of the offering of the Global HR Centre Data Management team, as well as all HR teams completing data work, in line with the broader HR data strategy

Essential skills:
  • Relevant data architecture leadership experience in a large global organisation,
  • Strong networking skills with good internal/external links,
  • Experience of developing and influencing business strategies
  • Strong communication, facilitation and relationship building skills
  • Experience of developing and leading innovative solutions
  • Proven experience of leading change and challenging approaches/ideas
  • Significant HR system expertise, including Workday system experience
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language
  • Experience of policies, procedures and guidelines within a quality and compliance environment
  • Awareness of developments in the marketplace and understand the relevance and potential impact to AZ HR data and systems
  • Understanding of regulatory/legislative requirements related to personal data in key markets and regions
  • Ability to influence internal and 3rd party data privacy management processes, including ongoing compliance, and issue resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain highly confidential information and to instil data control and security values in the team
  • Strong detail orientation and analytical skills
  • Experience working and influencing stakeholders in a global environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements in operating markets
