GCP Senior Developer

Resposibilities:

The Commercial Banking (CMB) Data & Analytics IT team is responsible for both the definition of the data management & analytics strategy, as well as the design & delivery of data solutions for consumption by the Global Commercial Business. Current departmental projects include, among many others, Customer Data Management (CDM), Journey to Cloud and analytical reporting in a Big Data environment. The department is committed to the production of high-quality enterprise-grade software. This makes CMB Data & Analytics IT a dynamic, challenging and rewarding place to work. The purpose of the role is to work with our Analytics workstreams to migrate / write and test developed artefacts on services available on the GCP Cloud Platform. The Analytics Tooling Senior Developer will work with one or more Agile pods to develop and consult on GCP analytics & service capabilities. Ensuring all functional and non-functional features are delivered in services as appropriate

Key Accountabilities will be:

Development of well-written analytical products that work efficiently on the GCP hosted toolsets.

Working closely with other analytical toolset development teams across the globe to consult on best practice in software development efficiency

Consulting with the Product Owner and Pod team members to provide estimates on delivery timeframe for product backlog items

Overseeing continuous improvement of deliverables

as the tooling platform evolves the code must be maintained to ensure latest features and optimizations are being tested and implemented as appropriate

Building and maintaining good working relationship with all the internal and external team members providing excellent customer service and forging partnership relationships

Required:

Is capable of leveraging her/ his extensive technical experience of GCP and its services – usage of the platform as well as knowledge on how to configure and modify products on the platform

Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. High complexity, high data volumes, dynamic.

Perform or support data quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Understanding of using relational and unstructured databases

Perform or have a knowledge about extracting, importing, and exporting of data - ETL (extract, transform, load)

Understanding data modelling concepts - keeping data in structured format, conceptual, logical and physical data modelling

Assist in preparation of reports, training materials, business presentations, publications, marketing collaterals, and other educational materials.

Ability to work under pressure, find logical solutions to problems and produce work unsupervised.

Understanding of customers' needs and delivering excellent customer service

A flexible and adaptable approach to change and will support others to respond in a similar way

Achieving targets and meeting expectations whilst supporting and encouraging others to do the same

Supporting others' performance, enabling them to achieve by providing clear direction, motivation and support

Experience in Agile/ DevOps environment and in assisting in production support

A strong customer focused approach to delivery

Though the below items are not essential, having several of them would be useful:

A thorough knowledge of GCP, its services and the Analytics Toolset market of alternative vendor/open source offerings products

Solid understanding of Big Data and Cloud technologies

Has a solid practical, commercial experience with relevant development languages and frameworks like SQL, Python, Scala, Spark

Familiarity with various operating systems: Linux/Unix, Windows

Some experience with Big Data (Hadoop) principles.

Experience of agile software development projects

Some project management experience

Knowledge of sound application integration patterns.
