Full-stack Developer

Location: Remote Poland
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Group Technology’s Risk CTO team is looking for an experienced IT professional with experience in Enterprise Architecture and modern technology (Cloud, Big Data, AI). We are modernizing our application portfolio and migrating to Azure in one of financial service’s biggest cloud migrates to date. RESPONSIBILITIES

The role encompasses a broad set of accountabilities. Core responsibilities include:

  • Translate the business vision and strategy into the technology landscape.
  • Work with Group Risk Control, the front office, and technology stakeholders to elicit, agree, document and communicate target-state architecture.
  • Develop technology architecture standards and promote their adoption within Risk.
  • Maintain current and target state architecture.
  • Help assessing competing technology solutions from different vendors and make recommendations.
  • Improve tech and engineering culture of the App Dev teams e.g. by setting up working groups to ensure bottom-up buy-in into IT strategy.
  • Understand, support and enhance Agile work practices such as small cohesive teams, team empowerment, automated CI/CD, MVP concepts, hackathons.
  • Drive convergence of Group Risk's architecture from its current state to the target state, and drive adoption of UBS Group architecture standards.
  • Dive into an unfamiliar codebase to get familiar with the code and provide advice on making improvements.
  • Fluency in at least two of the following technology stacks:

o JVM: Scala, Java, or Kotlin

o Python

o R

o .Net: C#, Asp.Net, Blazor, etc.

o Web: Html, CSS, Javascript, and Typescript

While you only need to know two of the above languages, we would like for a candidate whom can familiarize themselves with any missing ones quickly. A basic ability to read them, run an existing codebase, and making reasonable changes (Google-driven development) will be necessary.

  • Advise on how we can leverage new technologies in the area of big data, ML, reporting, visualization, analytics, etc.
  • Promoting and validating the adherence to Minimum Enterprise Requirements through the lifecycle management process.
  • Maintaining our strategy involves the ongoing collation, consideration and validation of significant inputs from business stakeholders, vendors and developers alike. The CTO team is required to successfully lead all parties to a conclusion that fully considers business, technical and financial implications. This requires a highly skilled architect who can establish the merits of the differing inputs, broker agreements and maintain acceptance across a range of interested parties.

We are looking for software developer (hands-on, problem solver, technical expert) l to be able to:

  • collaborate on proof-of-concepts, pilots, minimum viable products, business cases and quality control
  • communicate to and influence stakeholders
  • contributing to the design of the system by participating in the architecture and technical discussions with the team
  • build and maintain applications in an Agile environment using Kubernetes & Azure Cloud
  • document the provided resolutions

SKILLS

MUST

Fluency in at least two of the following technology stacks:

  • 3-5 years' experience of IT Architecture experience and general IT management competencies.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (Azure GCP, or AWS) and enabling cloud-native solutions.

NICE TO HAVE

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 3 years relevant experience in the Global Financial Services Industry, specifically supporting Finance or Risk Department would be advantageous, but is not required.
  • Sound understanding of modern technologies (Big Data, AI/ML, Containers, Cloud Computing) is a requirement.
  • Technology experience of application development and product engineering and infrastructure fundamentals in context of software development lifecycle.
  • Contributing to the firm's strategic planning process.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to manage in global and matrixed organization with experience dealing with business & technology CxO's.
