First Line of Defense Compliance Controller
Location: WarsawPosition summary:
The First Line of Defense Business Control Testing incumbent will be responsible for ensuring key risk and compliance controls are validated for Elavon Merchant Services. Responsibilities include developing and managing the execution of line of business control testing, issue identification & mitigation. The incumbent will also support the identification of gaps within Global Merchant Services.
Main responsibilities:
- Create and execute risk and compliance test scripts for key controls within Elavon Merchant Services to assess adequacy of design and effectiveness of controls.
- Ensure appropriate sampling methodology, standardized templates and prioritization, execution of testing, issue escalation & remediation requirements, repository updates and documentation.
- Partner with the business as issues arise to triage and evaluate impacts. Assist with the development and agreement of an action plan ensuring adequate and timely resolution. Escalate and professionally debate when necessary.
- Present control concerns, testing results and pipeline, opened issues and emerging concerns both to middle and higher management. Partner in issue closures.
- Cooperate with other Lines of Defense.
- Review Business Line procedures and assess against policies and regulations.
- May participate with outside regulators, governing bodies and vendors.
- May be asked to perform special projects as needed.
Requirements:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (both verbal and written) at different levels of the organization, bi-lingual preferred (Polish, German, Norwegian, French).
- A minimum 3 years of experience in BIG4, risk, compliance or internal audit function with international exposure in a financial institution (preferably card industry or payments).
OR A vast experience within card industry or payments can also fulfil this requirement. - Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Finance / Banking, Legal, Mathematics or similar.
- Certifications like CIA are beneficial.
- Must be well versed in the fundamental principles of banking (card industry / payments preferred), understands bank related compliance regulations, risk/control frameworks and auditing principles.
- Ability to effectively challenge all areas of the business and deliver solutions which drive risk and control excellence across the business.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Access nice to have).
- Ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner.
- Motivated to tackle challenging problems.
- Ability to travel on an occasional basis.
