EMEA Tax Project Manager

In this role the EMEA Tax Project Manager will be responsible in particular for:

  • communication with the tax authorities in EMEA in the area of all taxes (CIT, VAT, etc), in the context of tax queries, tax audits and tax compliance obligations in EMEA;
  • ensuring proper implementation and maintenance of compliance framework for EU mandatory disclosure of tax schemes (DAC-6) across all EU countries in which the Company has its operations.

EMEA Tax Project Manager will be in a direct working relationship with the various teams across the region, coordinating communication with local Finance, Legal, Logistics and HR and other departments. The candidate will report into EMEA Tax Director.

The successful candidate will have relevant tax experience from public accounting (min 5 years of experience in BIG 4 companies or similar), is fluent in English, and would like to work in dynamic / project driven environment.  Strong analytical and technical skills are necessary for this role, and a knowledge of other European tax legislations would be preferred.

For our Client, a well-known and fast growing pharmaceutical company, we are looking for a candidate for EMEA TAX Project Manager position based in Warsaw (potentially also other EMEA country).

Description

Support EMEA Tax Director in tax matters in the region, in particular with respect to :

  • controversy support, including
  • coordination of tax examinations with the tax authorities in various taxing authorities
  • managing the contacts and communication with external advisors, if necessary
  • managing the contacts with other service providers where necessary (eg translation office);
  • gathering and analyzing information related to controversy queries from the EU tax authorities, namely:
  • liaising with internal clients (finance, legal, supply chain departments etc), ensuring relevant information/ documentation is gathered and response is provided within the deadline;
  • drafting responses to the tax authorities' requests
  • conducting research in connection with the above responsibilities
  • assisting with global tax controversies
  • providing internal technical and practical support to local teams on enquiries or in relation to important tax matters
  • Ensuring compliance with the requirements of DAC-6, including
  • developing and implementation of policies, procedures and processes related to the identification and reporting of tax schemes
  • monitoring implementation and development of DAC-6 legislation and guidelines across EU
  • preparation of DAC-6 reports and coordination of their submittion in the respective EU countries
  • communication with business units in the area of DAC-6 reporting
  • maintaining DAC-6 reporting and knowledge databases
  • communicate with EU countries' Tax Authorities in the course of DAC-6 related audits
  • spreading knowledge on DAC-6 and developing training for local tax/ finance/ other employees, conducting workshops;

    • Some additional responsibilities, which may include support of Corporate Tax Department in preparation of US tax return process; in particular gathering of FIN 48 uncertain tax position related information and documenting Company's position in that area.

Profile

  • Min 5 years' experience within the Big4 or similar, dealing with European tax matters in a fast paced organization (preferably Big 4) is a must [emphasis on Luxembourg, Ireland, Germany, France, Poland, Russia and related European income tax treaties],
  • Master's Degree (preferably in law but can be finance, accountancy or economy as well),
  • Tax Advisor license or equivalent
  • Fluent business English with experience of working in multinational environment (everyday use at work)
  • Working knowledge of MS Office- especially Excel (Pivot Tables), PowerPoint, Word is a must
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline driven, dynamic environment
  • Analytical approach
  • Ambitious, career focused individual with keen interest in developing and progressing a career within international tax
  • Ability and willingness to travel when required
  • Accuracy and timeliness with a strong attention to detail
  • Investigative ability/aptitude
  • The ability and willingness to pick up and develop technical knowledge on the job, through formal training sessions and through self-education
  • Team working and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of SAP, HFM, Peoplesoft will be an asset
