EMEA Accounting Manager

Location: Warszawa

This role reports directly to the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Controller and is primarily responsible for the accounting process within the Region, including but not limited to accounts receivable and payable, fixed asset depreciation and deferred revenue activities. This position will coordinate and support a large number of entities in the Region regarding the accounting process. In addition, this role will be responsible for the supervision of closing activities in accordance with a Sarbanes Oxley control environment.

The position will be based in Warsaw, Poland, in the offices of EMEA Business Services.

The main tasks in this role will be:

  • Coordinate the accounting activities for the EMEA entities;
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements for the EMEA region through communication with key business stakeholders and by liaising with the Corporate Controller’s office on the status of closings, key controls and on significant accounting matters;
  • Supervise the preparation of key controls including the completion of revenue recognition templates, non-routine contract assessments, reconciliations of accounts, restructuring activities and pre-quarter questionnaires;
  • Perform analytical reviews of balance sheets and of key balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Provide initial research pertaining to critical accounting matters in the EMEA region;
  • Closely work with the Accounting Operations Manager within EMEA Business Services on the improvement of the efficiency of the accounting process in the Region.

Requirements to successfully fill this role are a university degree with a focus on accounting as well as relevant (more than 5 years) experience in a large multinational Group and/or in one of the Big 4 global audit companies. A certification as a CPA and the ability to build and manage a small team would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will have profound knowledge of the accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (U.S. GAAP) and of the Sarbanes Oxley control environment. Extensive knowledge of International Financial and local EMEA accounting standards as well as the ability to apply this knowledge are further requirements for this role.

Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and reporting tools are requirements on the IT side.

The working language is English which has to be fully mastered; good knowledge of any other major EMEA language (i. e. French, German, Spanish, Russian) would be an advantage.
