Breeder - Perennial Ryegrass

This position is based at our UK R & D centre, near Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. The site is home to the largest forage grass trialling centre in the UK, a ryegrass breeding programme and a large amenity grass trialling programme. It plays an important role in marketing of products to the UK grass seed trade.
The opportunity has arisen to join the team as a Perennial Ryegrass Breeder to be responsible for the development of a pipeline of varieties for the UK and Irish markets. The role will include travel within the UK, Ireland and further afield to participate in the DLF European perennial ryegrass breeding group meetings and discussions, as well as annual breeders meetings. This is an exciting opportunity to combine practical field work with computer based data processing and trials organisation and keep up to date with new technologies.

Candidates will be graduates or post graduates with experience of farm equipment and practices as well as field trials experience. The ability to work in a small, efficient team, a systematic approach and accurate good record keeping are essential, as is a full UK driving licence. A post graduate qualification in Plant Breeding or Biosciences would be preferable and PA1, 2 and 6 certificates would be an advantage, although training will be given to the successful candidate.
