Through preclinical research aimed to accelerate the development of new medicines, functional foods, diagnostics and prevention, the department of Metabolic Health Research helps improve health and reduce the burden of cardiovascular and metabolic disease, such as atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes and obesity and its complications. The biotech-, pharmaceutical-, diagnostic- and nutrition industry, as well as patient organisations and government bodies are important target groups for our department.
We are looking for an experienced (5+ years after PhD degree) biomedical researcher with demonstrable knowledge on human and animal (patho)fysiology, regarding pathological processes as well as the possibility for interventions. Specific focus is placed on a systemic approach of different pathologies.
You will develop new research projects and guide existing research projects for internal and external clients at a high level of quality. You have a high level of thinking, and – together with other researchers – you are able to put your biological knowledge of human and animal physiology to use in the interpretation of study results within the larger framework of human health.
You are enthousiastic and you show this enthousiasm in your work and as a colleague. You are a real team player, in both internal and external partnerships.
In our laboratory you will lead commercial and pre-competetive projects in which knowledge and interpretation of (patho)fysiological form an essential component. You will publish your results in leading scientific journals. Our laboratory is AAALAC-accredited. • You have a PhD in the area of biomedical science
• Based on your scientific publications and presentations you have an international network in industry and academia
• You have a commercial mentality and have had demonstrable succes in the initiation and acquisition of projects and/or the obtaining of research grants
• You are able to work independently as well as in a team
• You speak and write English fluently
• You are flexible and customer-oriented
• You are certified according to Article 9 of the Dutch Experiments on Animals Act
