Our client is a professional Clinical Research and Pharmaceutical organization, based in Zuid-Holland Netherlands.
The organisation is well-known for operating in Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals worldwide.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
As an associate scientist molecular bacteriology your main field of interest is molecular bacteriology. You will work in a multidisciplinary research team that identifies, designs, produces and characterises new vaccine candidates. Bioinformatics, molecular engineering, functional genomics, molecular microbiology, and biochemistry are key R&D activities. You will use your expertise to execute complex experiments with a high level of autonomy. Your core expertise is bacterial genetics and biochemistry which will be used to dissect and understand host-pathogen interactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Plan and perform experiments and tests
-Consulting with (senior) scientists
-Arrange necessaries for tests / experiments
-Set up assays (performing literature studies and consulting catalogues)
-Areas of full responsibility
-Practical realisation of the research (experiments and tests) under the supervision of scientist(s).
-Documentation of experiments and results in lab notebooks.
-Evaluation of results together with the supervisor (scientist / senior scientist).
-Responsible for writing SOPs / protocols.
REQUIREMENTS
-Minimum Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
-Minimum 2-5 years work experience.
-Experience in a structured environment is a plus.
-Experience with reporting.
-Microbiology Practice: Bacterial cultivation and strains identification.
-Molecular Biology techniques: DNA-, RNA-, Protein Isolation and the associated analytical methods.
-Microscopy techniques.
-Perform genetic manipulation of bacteria.
-Perform small-scale recombinant protein expression and purification.
OTHER
English is a must, Dutch not required.
