The Company

They develop vaccines that are the first or best in their class and protect against some of the world's most life-threatening infectious diseases. The pathogens against which vaccines are developed include Ebola, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Extra-intestinal Pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC), Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), polio and influenza.

Role Description

You are part of the Biochemical assays and in vitro Antigenicity Screening group. You are part of a dynamic and highly motivated team driving the characterization and evaluation of large molecule entities that are being developed in different vaccine programmes. During your work, you interact with various Bacterial Vaccines teams, and with various support departments. You perform laboratory work in person and help contract research organizations (CROs) plan and execute their assignments.

This position has therefore a strong focus on biochemical and immunological expertise.

This is a 6 month position with no guarantees for extension, however other possibilities may arise nearer to the end date and will then be considered.

Responsibilities

• Analysis of antigen-antibody interactions
• Develop new biochemical methods such as dot blots, capillary western blot, ELISA or biosensor based binding assays (evaluate LoD, LoQ, accuracy, etc.)
• With help from product development specialists, design and implement biochemical assays for in-process control (IPC), product characterization, and product release.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. with equivalent experience
• Minimal 2-4 years of professional experience (experience at a biotech industry setting is a must).
• Hands on experience on colorimetric assays, ELISA, Cell based assays, labelling of biomolecules.
