The Company

This company is committed to developing first-in-class or best-in-class vaccines for some of the world's most life-threatening infectious diseases. They have built a dedicated, world-class, multi-functional team across a variety of disciplines to develop a promising vaccines pipeline. In Leiden they have a workforce of 700 scientists and support staff, 45% of their employees have a nationality other than Dutch with over 20 nationalities represented. They partner with many of the world's leading experts, academic and clinical institutions and other pharmaceutical companies for the development of vaccines against, for example: Ebola and HIV.

Role Description

In this position you will perform laboratory activities and execute experimental and analytical tasks in formulation development according to plans or procedures. Making sure that everything is documented and handled under GMP regulations. You are encouraged to optimize existing techniques, processes, systems and programs and enthusiastic about learning new methods and techniques.

Responsibilities

- Perform different laboratory activities with the team according to the high quality standards
- Executing procedures and analytical methods for formulation development and sample analysis
- Accountable for all documentation and recording of information (logbooks e.g.)
- Collecting the data and review experimental results
- Data analysis and handling raw data to graphs/tables (working with a database)
- Support the fill/finish process development activities where needed, working together with the fill/finish specialist
- Technical owner of an instrument or method, taking responsibility for the proper functioning and maintenance
- Work together within the department and with colleagues from other departments
- Providing training and coaching of trainees and new technicians

Requirements

- B.Sc. or HLO degree within pharma or chemical related field
- Minimum of 2 years working in an industrial company
- Experience with formulation/analytical development
- Experience with vaccines or biologics (viruses or proteins)
- Worked under GMP regulations for at least one year
- Working with the following laboratory techniques:
Chromatography (HPLC-SEC and UPLC)
Spectroscop (UV/Vis, Fluorescence)
Particle Sizing Methods (DLS, Mastersizer, NTA)
Laboratory Automation and Data handling

Other information

You are pro-active in the identification of issues. Excellent problem-solving skills and timely implementing solutions.
