Technology Solution Architect

Job Description:

Currently, we are looking for a Technology Architect to help implement and design some of these key projects for our Client - one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world, providing a comprehensive range of financial services to around 60 million customers.

The Architect will be the key contact point for the technical implementation of the solution and become the bridge between the Solution Anaylsis team and the Engineering team. In order to ensure the correct design and implementation is in place the person must come from a technical back ground and be expected to understand core enterprise integration patterns.

Main tasks:

• Guide the process for new products on how the product could be integrated into customer environments
• Deployment of global solutions into local markets, working with core local integration teams
• Work with Global Wealth Architecture to help design a solution that integrates with local country deployments and to have input to the technical integration design
• Migrating apps from Distributed Systems to IaaS+ / PaaS platforms
• Optimising data backup and retention policies - reducing the number of end user devices
• Investigate new infrastructure technologies to meet GBM & GPB’s business requirements
• Provide technical governance over the Products used by Customer through the Technical Reference Model (TRM)
• Infrastructure Architecture Designs, approved by the Solutions Architecture Board (SAB)
• Keep up to date with business strategies & road maps; technology roadmaps and feeding wider business IT requirements into central infrastructure engineering and strategy teams
• Use of knowledge of the existing client business, applications and infrastructure to pro-actively make recommendations where it can be seen that improvements can be made
• Planning demise of local solutions and business processes and showing roadmaps towards target state
• Ensuring deliverables are in line with Architecture Standards and Governance. Challenging sub-optimal designs to ensure best outcomes are achieved.
• Determine business requirement and influence solution towards Infrastructure future state model
• Ensure logical design contributes to asset class technology objectives
• Examine potential demise opportunities and propose deployment options
• Consider service placement requirements And Design (supporting IT Transformation)
• Ensuring end to end completeness of technical design, including Non-Functional Requirements realised and validated
• Verify impact to adjacent services/systems and Validate deployment and support model
• Qualify technical acceptance of all components
• Review design and gain approval via Solutions Architecture Board

Requirements:

• Have a system engineering background and the ability to compare and contrast different solutions to meet a business requirement
• Provide technical thought leadership in evaluation of new technologies to meet business requirements and influence key stakeholders leading to adoption
• Passion for technology & understanding how things work
• Highly experienced in the technical implementation of projects and taking projects into production environment
• Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities.
• Ability to develop cohesive working relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
• Have in-depth conceptual functional and non-functional knowledge of:
• Networking (Cisco, TCP/UDP, Broadcast/Multicast, LAN/WAN)
• Server Operating systems internals, benchmarking and performance tuning (Linux, Windows, Solaris), CPU Microarchitectures (Intel, AMD, SPARC) & Server Virtualization (VMware, Xen, Hyper-V, KVM) Storage (EMC SAN – FC, FCoE, iSCSI, SRDF; NetApp NAS - CIFS, NFS)
• Databases (Oracle & MS SQL; VCS & MSCS)
• Databases (Oracle RAC, Sybase, Apache Hadoop & Hbase)
• Middleware and Grid (IBM MQ & Platform, Tibco RV & Datasynapse)
• Market Data (RMDS, 29West, Wombat, Solarflare)
• In Memory Distributed Data Grid (Oracle Coherence)
• Web applications servers (Apache HTTP Server & Tomcat, IIS, Websphere)
• End to end agile infrastructure architecture across all layers
