Our client is a professional Agriculture organization, based in Netherlands.
Fort he market leader in the crop sciences I´m currently looking for a Scientist Bioinformatics. My client is a well known multinational within which staff is highly valued and internal growth opportunities are all around.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The client is an extremely succesful company with big plans for the future. To this end, they are looking for a senior bioinformatician to function as the link between the bioinformatics facilities/tools and the different research/molecular breeding departments. From your central place within the organisation, you will set up projects and work together with the different departments to successfully complete these projects and assure my clients market leader status. Furthermore, you will guide a team of research assistants and help to develop their skills and career paths.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and lead projects to enhance usage of biotechnology tools such as NGS, marker assays and genotyping by the different departments and make analysis of data user friendly
- Provide all the R&D departments of my client with support regarding Bioinformatics
- Leading a team of Bioinformatics Research Assistants to contribute to the molecular breeding department
- Management of public and private data used in the Molecular Breeding department
- Development and/or implementation of workflows, pipelines, platforms, and tools to process, manage and make available such data
- High throughput data analysis consultation and training for scientists and research assistants of the Molecular Breeding teams
REQUIREMENTS
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Genetics, Genomics or related field with a strong link/affinity with Molecular Breeding
- Extensive experience with scripting languages (Perl, R, PHP, Python)
- Knowledge of and experience with Unix or Linux operating systems
- Experience with project management in regards to genomics/bioinformatics
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with requirements analysis, design, development and/or implementation of genomics database and tool platforms
