Senior Design Engineer

Our client is the world leader in the design and manufacture of landing gears and landing systems for all types of civil and military aeroplanes and helicopters. Combining advanced engineering, proven expertise in systems integration and unrivaled capabilities in their markets our client delivers innovative solutions to more than 30 aircraft manufacturers and 3,000 commercial and military operators around the world, resulting over 35,500 landings per day.

An experienced user of CAD (CATIAV5 preferred), your primary purpose will be to design and detail efficient landing gear solutions for civil and military aircraft, meeting demanding customer requirements.

Experienced in both traditional and computerised design methods and techniques, you will be involved in every facet of conceptual and detail design throughout the life cycle of our landing gear programmes. Good presentation skills are essential and a knowledge of aerospace materials and systems would be an advantage.

You will be qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline. A team player and innovative problem-solver with excellent communication skills, you will regularly liaise with customers and suppliers alike to ensure the teams achieve exacting results. The ability to speak another language or have experience working overseas would be an advantage.

Technical competencies:

• Knowledge of landing gear systems.
• Experience of dynamic analysis and computational modelling and simulation.
• Experience of model correlation and validation.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering and hydraulics.
• Basic knowledge of systems and electrical engineering.
• Experience of using MATLAB/Simulink, MSC.ADAMS and MSC.EASY5.
• Knowledge of validation and verification processes, methods and techniques.
• Ability to write requirements and use DOORS.
• Knowledge of airworthiness requirements and certification.

You should be educated to degree standard or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
