Senior Chemical Process Engineer

Location: Kraków

Senior Chemical Process Engineer - position will provide you with the opportunity to work on different kinds of chemical projects out of CH2M Kraków office. Each day you will be an important team member as you participate in the planning, design, coordination and execution of multiple projects. These chemical projects include typical engineering design of production units like process definition, P&ID elaboration, heat and mass balance, equipment sizing, process safety measures and others. Primary industry focus includes General Manufacturing and Advanced Technology (Consumer Products, Semiconductors and Pharmaceutical) facilities, as well as utility units, located worldwide. The ideal candidate will have strong chemical process engineering background and long experience in process design as well as practical engineering knowledge across multiple technical disciplines. Also helpful to have experience with all aspects of the project life cycle (conceptual and detailed design through construction) and skills to collaborate in multiple location, international design taskforces. Experience with pharmaceutical type projects will be an advantage. A primary part of the role will be liaising with other offices to ensure that design deliverables meet the required standard and client expectations.

Main responsibilities:

  • Is knowledgeable of LEAN work practices and applies these principles to project delivery.
  • Oversee a team of less experienced process designers.
  • Supervise, train and mentor less experienced process designers.
  • Independently lead plant design activities as an area/system leader and coordinate with multi-discipline designers.
  • Perform process plant design work across several engineering disciplines in 2D integrated design systems (PDS2D, SP2D, CADWorx2D/3D).
  • Introduce and perform quality review checks for process computed simulation and 2D modeling and process deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and vendor bid evaluations.
  • Assist in the generation of proposals, scopes, schedules and budgets for projects.
  • Develops designer effort-hour estimates for process discipline.
  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and has the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • Strong relevant engineering/design experience in typical General Manufacturing or Advanced Technology or Chemical Industry, (incl. i.e.. Batch Processing, Pharmaceutical, Clean Rooms, Sanitization, etc.)
  • Engineering/ design experience in the utility system (i.e. water all types including high purity water, steam , high purity gases, cooling water, etc.)
  • Experience with startup and commissioning will be an advantage
  • Experience in equipment layout definition.
  • Very good skills in CAD software (AutoCAD) and MS office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of process specific applications like AspenPlus, HYSYS, HTRI, Fathom, Arrow, PipeFlo etc. will be an advantage.
  • Excellent English level - written and spoken,
  • Knowledge of process specific design standards (minimum US/EU)
  • Familiar with FDA and GAMP requirements.
  • Familiar with HAZOP process and ATEX requirements and classification/zoning.
  • Associate degree with concentration in Chemical Engineering
  • Experience in equipment design will be an advantage.
  • Flexibility for travel to other locations will be required as needed.
  • Ability to interact with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors at all levels.
