This role is to manage a team and support the Head of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs-Bermuda in providing both strategic and operational compliance and regulatory affairs in support of AXA XL’s operations. The successful candidate will help to facilitate AXA XL’s business strategy, help mitigate business threats and keep AXA XL’s operations in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

• Work closely with the Head of Compliance in establishing, maintaining and monitoring a robust compliance framework (including the oversight of corresponding policies and procedures) which allows AXA XL Bermuda legal entities to comply with insurance operation requirements including Code of Conduct; Insurance Act 1978 and related regulations including Alternative Risk Capital requirements; Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing requirements; as well as regulators of overseas branches and subsidiaries of the Bermuda regulated entities where relevant
• Assist the Head of Compliance Bermuda in managing the relationships with the Bermuda Monetary Authority and relevant regulators maintaining a strong and effective relationship
• Prepare regular compliance regulatory reports and conduct compliance risk assessments to ensure effectiveness of the Bermuda compliance framework and strategize changes to accommodate evolving organizational, business and regulatory requirements
• Monitor and support Data Privacy Policies and Procedures and prepare reporting on effectiveness
• Provide oversight, support and coordinate relevant regulatory reviews
• Support the business owners to ensure AXA XL is able to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements and embed compliance controls wherever possible
• Oversee other members of the Compliance team answering licensing queries, providing guidance and dealing with more technical issues
• Provide compliance advice to the business, which will involve knowledge and familiarization with all relevant legislation and regulation. The provision of compliance advice will include drafting policies and procedures, providing written advice, and face to face advice as well as being the Compliance representative on wider business projects
• Preparing and delivering compliance training for the legal entities, and actively participating in Board and management training, including new starter inductions
• Participate in the maintenance of compliance documentation including department and business policies and procedures
• Actively participating in executive management committees and Boards as required
• Assisting the Head of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs -Bermuda in the preparation of the Board and Executive Committee reporting including tracking the completion of regulatory actions

• Minimum 5-7 Years’ Experience of dealing with Compliance matters in the Bermuda insurance market including Alternative Risk Capital
• Thorough knowledge of relevant insurance regulatory and legal requirements in Bermuda including AML/ATF; data privacy and economic substance
• A working knowledge and understanding of a broad range of insurance products
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
