Investment Portfolio Analyst

Location: Warsaw

The role involves working in a team which delivers high quality, accurate and timely information to internal and external stakeholder for London Listed Investment Trust. It provides a good opportunity to gain experience in portfolio information analysis and complex investment experience in international financial reporting.

The role involves the capture, collation and analysis of portfolio information as well as ad hoc discrete tasks with regards to new investments and investment opportunities.

The successful candidate will be a recently qualified chartered or certified accountant with high attention to detail and be able to work to strict deadlines. The role requires an individual, who is motivated, conscientious, has a hands-on approach, can use their own initiative and who is a good team player and communicator.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

The main responsibilities of this include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Capturing new investments and realisations information (e.g. entry multiples and
  • returns at exit) to our monitoring database
  • Capturing periodic portfolio company trading KPIs to our monitoring database
  • Preparing summary information for our semi-annual portfolio monitoring pack (preparing summary analysis from our monitoring database and mechanically updating appropriate elements of presentation materials e.g with summary fund level KPIs from quarterly reports)
  • Checking consistency of above information with the separate fund of funds pack / finance systems and liaising with MFA to understand / reconcile differences as appropriate
  • Preparing bottom-up, aggregated portfolio analysis (including dealing with ad hoc investment team queries, preparing peer group comparisons and preparing semi-annual summaries for updating our presentation materials)
  • Ad hoc, discrete tasks helping PEFI with new investments (e.g. track record analysis for potential new managers, preparation of comparable quoted companies analysis for potential new co-investments)
  • Quarterly new investments and realisations analysis (preparing summary data and updating appropriate elements of board presentation materials)
  • Updating basic portfolio information (e.g. cost / realised / unrealised data) in template secondary models
  • Preparing the fund evolution charts which go into the semi-annual portfolio monitoring book

 

Person Specification

 

Essential

  • Recently Qualified ACA
  • Good academic track record
  • Excellent knowledge of financial statements / experience of financial statement analysis
  • Practical understanding of valuation metrics (e.g. through experience of preparing comparable quoted companies analysis benchmarking EV and leverage multiples)
  • Advanced Excel skills (not really any complex modelling requirements, but efficient manipulation of large data sets means they should be all over, e.g. use of offset / index / match type functions)
  • Good knowledge of other MS Office products (e.g. ability to pull together PowerPoint
  • presentations with summary charts)
  • Conscientious, diligent with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong reconciliation and analytical review skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and to work to tight deadlines

 

Desirable

  • Experience within Financial Services or Asset Management from a management or financial accounting background.
  • International Funds or Private Equity experience will be an advantage
